Roleplay / Therianthropy Project

Go To

A long running RP created by Greycat, this game involves a group of college age children signing up for some experimental medical tests that would, at best give them some minor enhancements to their senses and physical abilities. All is not as it seems as the students are suddenly kidnapped in the middle of the night by a mysterious group of solders who take them to a far away laboratory and are given the powers of old: The ability to become animals.

Tropes

  • All Myths Are True: From vampires and werewolves to the heros of old. If it's a myth, it's probably true.
  • Applied Phlebotinum: The Arcadia Virus and Essence, a 'virus' that brings the brings out the traits of the latter, whatever they might be. Essence is a force inside all humans (and possibly other animals) and expresses itself in sevral ways. It can let people turn into anthros, give people superpowers or become flat out immortal.
  • Author Appeal: As per usual, kidnapping, conspiracy theories, Furry Fandom, and psychological stresses.
  • Break the Cutie: Shelly, Yellow's character, used to be very kind, sweet, helpful to others, and an all around nice girl. Lately, she's become.... Not so much. In his own words, Shelly has become "caustic to anyone she doesn't know, firm in her opinions, sickened by the game, and depressed by it."
  • Conspiracy Kitchen Sink: If there's a conspiracy theory, it's probbaly true.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: The Players of The Game likely inspired this in universe. The others are just jealous.
  • My Instincts Are Showing: Any therian in the cast. As a gameplay mechanic no less. With the possible exception of Shelly.
  • Our Therians are Different: No weakness to silver, no lunar cycle, can be any mammal (and mammal only extinct or otherwise) and a host of other variations from the norm.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: While none have actually been shown, they do sound different.
  • Painful Transformation: Oh so much.
  • Webcomic Time: The story started in September of last year which is when it took place... It's taken until now to get TWO WEEKS of time covered.
