Roleplay / Pokemon Universe RP

Go To

A FanFiction.net forum centering around Pokémon and roleplaying as Pokémon. They pride themselves on the quality of their roleplays, even having a few rules governing the posts themselves.

All a player needs to do is to submit an acceptable character, wait for approval (making any needed changes), and ask other players to roleplay with them. The main roleplay takes place in the world of the main-series games. They also have a second roleplay setting called Pokémon Quest based loosely on the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon spin-off series. The topics marked "Pokémon Quest:" belong to this setting.

The forum can be found here.

Examples found in this forum:

  • Absurdly Spacious Sewer:
    • As with the games, the Castelia Sewers are rather big.
    • Scutum Sewer of the Quest setting is spacious and extensive enough to be used as a shortcut between three towns. However, it's full of toxic sludge and a number of Pokémon get stuck down there.
  • Aerith and Bob: Bound to happen given the large amount of users that have gone there at one point. It's not uncommon to have a group composed of Ares, Zwikyuq, and Sue.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": Once submitted to the forum was an Umbreon...named Umbreon.
  • After the End: The Pokemon Quest setting is this, set after humanity fell, leaving only Pokemon behind.
  • All There in the Manual: There is a "Rules" topic on the forum, laying out what to do and what not to do in understandable format. This is rather helpful to newcomers.
  • Anyone Can Die: If all the dead characters from the roleplay could all be put in one place, it would make quite the graveyard...
  • Big Badass Battle Sequence: Most (if not all) of the forum participated in what is sometimes called the Battle of White Forest, where a malevolent Deoxys crashed into and a few other powerful characters arrived in White Forest, setting off a massive battle where a large number of characters died.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For:
    • Characters who make wishes on Jirachi characters don't always get quite what they wanted...
    • One interesting example being when a Malamar named Pay (then still an Inkay) wished for 'omnipotence'. Instead, she got a set of moves that enabled her to hit super-effective against most other types.
  • Blood Knight: Some characters on the forum fight simply for the sake of fighting.
  • Break the Cutie: This has happened to several characters.
    • Aliza the Lilligant was a lot cuter before a group called the 'Abyss' forced her to join and (mentally and physically) raped her into becoming a shell of herself. She got better.
    • The same group got to a young and dedicated-to-heroism-type Keldeo named Kelbo. Their leader, an insane Darkrai named Manus, beat him into submission. He hasn't recovered yet.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall:
    • A voice announced from the heavens...
    • A meteor destroyed a grave made by another character for The Heavy of the Battle of White Forest, Peter the Celebi. This was because Peter's owner didn't intend for Peter to be buried in that particular grave.
  • Bullying a Dragon: At one point a literal case when Miles, the Dragon to the Giratina Angra Mainyu, decided to remind Ax-Crazy and eyeless Latios Penance of his dead sister. Said Latios didn't respond well.
  • Butt-Monkey: A lot of characters receive this in doses.
    • Tyler the punky Gallade can't ever seem to keep his prized guitar safe...
      • It finally breaks during an incident involving an extremely powerful Alakazam and a house being destroyed.
    • Dominic the Lucario has lost his father, watched him die, been made to believe his love interest died, lost his memory and more. The guy just can't catch a break.
    • Ahere the Zoroark embodies this, in that he was for the longest time the plaything of a literal god- Angra Mainyu. This got so bad he at one point attempted to take his own life.
  • Eldritch Abomination: It is a Pokémon-based roleplay, after all. Especially in the case of certain Legendaries.
  • Evil Versus Evil: Since there are so many 'evil' characters with agendas that may come into conflict with the agendas of other evil characters, this has been known to happen.
  • Superpowered Evil Side: Mega Evolutions are generally this. Without a loved one or trusted friend holding a Key Stone to stabilize the process, Mega Evolution induces drastic and violent personality shifts in the user.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Insanity: Repeated use of 'unstable' Mega Evolution causes the personality shifts to begin bleeding over into the user's base form, eventually driving them completely insane.
