Roleplay / GQEmpire

Go To

The GQEmpire is an ongoing mostly text-based roleplay hosted on Whatsapp, simulating a fictional nation with its own law, politics, class system, religion and more, based off Ancient Rome. It was formed in 2018 by the 3 Founding Fathers: Ivanus, Asherus and Brudski, as a latin classics project, but quickly became something far larger. The website for it can be found here.

The GQEmpire contains examples of:

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: GQLaw has many examples of this.
    • Use of comic sans, on the same level as Minor Assault.
    • Shilly Shallying and Funny Business. The punishment for both of these is a Harsh scolding, but a typo in the law document changed it into a harsh scalding.
    • Capsising a rowing boat with another member on board.
    • Passionate Guzzelment of Lemonade, which is equal to rigging an entire election.
  • Cargo Cult: Downplayed. While cranes (known as polyspastons) are held with reverence in the GQEmpire they aren't related to the religion in any way.
  • Cult: The GQEmpire is often jokingly referred to as this.
    • Cult of Personality: The GQEmpire does have a religion however... and it puts the Founding Fathers as the creators of all.
    • Within the aforementioned religion there is a cult which worships a deity called Raug, Lord of Contradictions.
  • Decided by One Vote: What most GQSenate sessions resemble, due to the fact that the government and opposition are more or less evenly matched, save for one or two wildcards.
  • Gambit Roulette: What Linus claims to be doing, with many unforeseeable events that will supposedly result in the Benevolence Party winning an election in the near future despite them not ever running.
    • There is precedent for this however, as the ACF's plan for winning the December 2019 election without running. The party split apart and infiltrated every political party running and then got enough combined seats so that they can all leave their parties and join the ACF giving them a majority. It's safe to say that the other parties Didn't See That Coming.
  • Gratuitous Latin: Thrown in from time to time. This IS a community based off ancient Rome, after all.
    • The ACF stands for Aequalitatem Convivium Feminarum.
    • The standard greeting is "Ave!"
    • There is also a small latin vocab list which is law to memorise, though it is never enforced.
  • Informed Obscenity: Ivanus and a couple others tend to replace Magna Carta with "M**** C****"
  • Insane Troll Logic: The entire point of Raug.
  • Intentional Engrish for Funny: The GQ Magna Carta states that:
Removing a citizen from the whatsapp chat... is an abuse of power. If it is counted up to 50, then it is the law of legal laws of law.
