- "He told me that, if we can find a way out of this mansion, he can help us save our friends."-Elsa
Tropes from round one of Foolish Mortals and its intermission.
- Arc Words: Are ya ready?
- Blood-Stained Letter: Averted in the second investigation, as the letter found in Sophie's pocket was blood-free.
- Cartwright Curse: One half of every ship is dead by the end of Round 1.
- Cast Full of Gay: It's generally accepted that Jiminy and Kiara are the only straight characters around. And even Jiminy has a thing with mini-Maui going on.
- Chekhov's Gag:
- Tarzan calling Jiminy a pervert in the first trial ends up being the key to proving that the Tarzan in the third trial is a fake.
- Star's magic returning but working wrong is the key to figuring out what happened to Kiara in Case 5.
- Drowning My Sorrows: Most of the cast, at one point or another, digs into some alcohol. Even some of the younger people get into it.
- Evidence Scavenger Hunt: Happens immediately after a body (or bodies) is discovered.
- Flayed Alive: Inverted. After one of the most disturbing kills of the game, a lion-skin rug is all that remains of Kiara, and the worst part is, her killer was trying to heal her. Her innards make an unwelcome cameo in Season 3.
- Family of Choice: The Round 1 survivors have always been extremely close-knit, but when contrasted with the... lack of cohesion between the other two groups, it really highlights the fact that Round 1 is the most ride or die.
- Grave Humor: The tombstones of the dead have a rhyming couplet alluding to how they died.
- Haunted House: The setting of Round 1 is one that draws heavy inspiration from one of the most famous examples.
- Holding Hands: Tip and Anna Sasaki do this while escaping the graveyard after Ghost Host gets killed.
- Masquerade Ball: Taking place on the Fourth of July.
- No Antagonist: Played With: While there is a villain, this round's players make up largely heroes, a few anti-heroes, conflicted villains that have committed a Heel–Face Turn, and one Anti-Villain in their own canon, rather than any traditionally evil or manipulative characters that most murdergames include.
- One-Steve Limit: Averted with Princess Anna and Anna Sasaki.
- Talking Animal: Being a Disney game, round one inevitably houses the likes of Kiara and Jiminy Cricket.
- Team Pet: Heihei (named "Honey Nut" by Wander) was this for a while. Mochi becomes one as well, with Pig and Chauncey joining the group of pets not long after.
- What Measure Is a Non-Human?: There are many non-humans in the first round, most notably WALL-E, a little robot who is more or less seen as his own being by most of the cast. It's the reason why Demyx felt he could murder him without remorse.
