- Azumanga Daioh: Child Prodigy Akira Kogami goes to school and befriends Jerkass Haruhi Suzumiya, Straight Man Chie Satonaka, Lain, Cloud Cuckoo Lander Edward, and athletic Mary Spencer. They belong to Eucliwood Hellscythe's class. Also features a possibly-hallucinatory Viewtiful Joe who is a bird.
- Cardcaptor Sakura: When her father Blade (later Franz Bonaparta) brings home a book from the university he teaches at, Louise accidentally releases the seal on the book's cover and sends the magic cards inside scattering to the winds. Near, the guardian beast of the cards, tasks her with their recovery, bestowing unto her a magic staff and the ability to manipulate the cards' power. Now, alongside her best friend Sailor Moon, she tracks down the cards, often butting heads with her rival Shinji Ikari and his childhood friend/cousin Yuri Nakamura all while trying to keep this new life of hers a secret from her family (consisting of her father, and her brother Hideki Motosuwa) and her crush Takumi Nishijou. In time, she even meets the magician who created the cards, Ruby Rhod.
- Code Geass: Inuyasha seeks to make a better Japan for Tsumugi after gaining powers from Haruhi Fujioka. This is complicated by the appearance of Inuyasha's old friend Spike Spiegel on the other side.
- Crayon Shin-chan: Aladdin lives with his parents Hideki Motosuwa and Motoko Kusanago, baby sister Chiyo, and his pet penguin. Aladdin goes to school with Honey, Negi Springfield, Konata Izumi, Astro Boy, and Amu Hinamori.
- Death Note: Sasuke Uchiha finds a mystical artifact Death Note that causes people to die if their name is written in it. Hwoarang, the world's greatest detective, tries to stop him.
- Fate/stay night: Yuji Sakai, who's best friends with Tuxedo Mask, accidentally summons Osaka and then allies with Asuka and Shikamaru to participate in a Battle Royale for the Holy Grail, eventually leading up to Mello and Sebastian Michaelis.
- Fullmetal Alchemist: Siblings Death the Kid and Young!Sasuke Uchiha try to reclaim their bodies after a failed transmutation attempt. They are followed by T.K.
- Future Diary: Oz and Lain are forced into a fight to the death to see who will become God. Train Heartnet is also part of their Psychotic Love Triangle.
- The God Of Highschool: Natsu Dragneel, Hideki Ide and Mina Ashido enter a new martial arts tournament called "The God of High School" organize by Master Bear.
- Haruhi Suzumiya: Suruga Kanbaru is bored of normal people, so she founds the SOS Brigade with L. Chii, and Ayumu Aikawa later join them.
- Hikaru no Go: Edward is an apathetic boy who is possessed by the spirit of Spike Spiegel, a Heian-era Go player.
- Hunter × Hunter:
- 1999 series: Kamui Katsuragi finds out from Tomoya Okazaki that his estranged father is a Hunter. He takes the Hunter Exam with defusing child assassin Spinel, revenge-seeking Genocide Survivor Akito Sohma, aspiring doctor Hiroshi Nohara, and Monster Clown Suppaman, who is also the leader of the Phantom Troupe.
- The Phantom Troupe also includes Precia Testarossa, and Alphonse Elric
- 2011 series: Kamui, Spinel, Akito, and Hiroshi are back, but the monster clown is now Shadow the Hedgehog.

- Neon Genesis Evangelion: Three unstable teens— shy Krillin, brash Misty, and seemingly emotionless Sailor Moon —are forced by ruthless leader The Pale Man to battle "Angels".
- Ouran High School Host Club: As punishment for breaking an expensive vase, Lucy Heartfilia is forced to join Yukito Tsukishiro's "Pretty Boys" Club. Other members of said club include twincestuous brothers L and Ganta Igarashi, Vice President Johan Liebert, boy Lolita Taiga Aisaka, and his(?) stoic companion Aru Akise, as well as their manager, Pinkie Pie.
- Rozen Maiden: Edward Elric is a shut-in whose main companion is a living doll named Dejiko. Dejiko and several other dolls - Naonha, Misaka, Tomoyo, and Osaka - make Edward's life an even bigger living hell in their battle for the right to become the "perfect girl".
- Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei: Keima Katsuragi is the suicidal homeroom teacher of a class that includes the creepily optimistic Natsuki Shinohara.
- Sgt. Frog: My Melody plots to take over the earth after landing in the home of Rin Tohsaka and Hiei (and fails epically), he is joined by Yui Hirasawa,Armstrong, Lupin the Third, and Lelouch.
- Yu-Gi-Oh!: Spike Spiegel, former pharaoh of Egypt, is reincarnated in the body of Watanuki who solved his puzzle. Together with Watanuki's friends Inuyasha, Yukiteru Amano, and Haruhi Suzumiya, and Spike's rival Piccolo, they play children's card games. Inuyasha has a romantic subplot with Ophelia (later Oz). All of the good guys join forces to ultimately take down Waver Velvet.
