  • A 2004 commercial for VISA Check Card has various Marvel superheroes answering a woman's call for help, only to leave disappointed when they learn that her Check Card was stolen (since it can be easily replaced with fraudulent charges reimbursed). At the end, Underdog shows up on the scene too late and gets dismissed by the woman.
  • A 2008 Coca-Cola commercial had Macy's Thanksgiving Parade balloons of Underdog and Stewie Griffin fighting over a balloon of a Coke bottle. It ends up getting caught by a Charlie Brown balloon.

  • Heathcliff:
    • Heathcliff and a woman see Underdog flying by, and the woman says "It's a frog."
  • Mother Goose and Grimm:
    • One storyline involves Grimm filling in for Underdog when the canine superhero gets sick.
    • Superman is lining the Hall of Justice with newspapers as Batman tells him, "I told you it was a mistake to let Underdog in the Justice League".
    • Grimm asks Attila who would win in a fight between Superman and Underdog.
    • When Mother Goose drops her food on the floor, Grimm comes to eat it as "Left-Under Dog".
  • Off the Mark:
    • Underdog reveals at a press conference that his Super Energy Pill is really steroids- and he does so in rhyme, no less.
    • Underdog is a patient at the Betty Rubble Center for Recovering Toons for pill-popping.
    • Sweet Polly Purebred finds a new underdog to love in the New England Patriots.

  • Red and Rover:
    • Rover namedrops Underdog as one of the dog heroes he admires.
    • Red mentions Underdog as one of the answers when asking Rover what famous dog he'd want to have dinner with.

Literature

  • Captain Underpants: The time travel in Tippy Tinkletrousers's Tinkle-Time Travelometer is activated by three small "Hip" buttons and one big "Away We Go!" one. In other words, "Hip, hip, hip, away we go!".

Live-Action Television

  • Friends: "The One Where Underdog Gets Away" is the show's first Thanksgiving Episode. The title refers to news that the Underdog balloon on the Macy's parade has come loose.

Video Games

  • Wheels! for the Apple Macintosh uses snippets of the theme song and samples the line "There's no need to fear! Underdog is here!"

Western Animation

  • Animaniacs (1993): One of the shows the Warners appear on in "Back in Style" is a parody called "Thunderdog".
  • The Arthur episode "The Secret Origin of Supernova" features an Underdog parody called Doodle Dog, which Arthur used to enjoy when he was younger. He tries getting back into it, but a group of kindergarteners on the playground call him immature for liking it.
  • In the Futurama episode “Leela’s Homeworld”, the mutants’ aircraft is said to be made out of discarded Macy’s parade balloons. Underdog’s Groin is mentioned as part of the aircraft.
  • Kid Cosmic: The titular protagonist has a seldom used, but notable catchphrase that's a direct homage to Underdog's own catchphrase.
    Kid Cosmic: "Have no fear, Kid Cosmic is here!"
  • My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic: In "The Mysterious Mare Do Well", Rainbow Dash's catchphrase when saving other ponies is a mix between Underdog's and Spider-Man's catchphrases.
    Rainbow Dash: "Never fear, your friendly neighborhood Rainbow Dash is here!"
  • The Powerpuff Girls (1998): In "Super Zeroes", Bubbles' catchphrase when in her Harmony Bunny persona is a reference to Underdog's "hip hip hip and away I go" catchphrase.
    Harmony Bunny: "When trouble is near, I am not slow, for it's hop hop hop and away I go!"
  • Robot Chicken: Underdog appears in the "Omaha's Number 1 News Team" skit from "Dragon Nuts", where he attempts to stop a purse snatcher, but everyone is amazed that a dog can talk.
  • The Simpsons: In "Bart Vs. Thanksgiving", Bart and Homer watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, where Bart doesn't recognize the balloon characters of Bullwinkle and Underdog, and complains that they ought to use "cartoons made in the last fifty years".
    • In "Little Girl In the Big Ten", Bart in his plastic bubble uses a variant of Underdog's famous catchphrase: "When trouble comes, I am not slow, for it's spin, spin, spin, and away I go!"
