- The Stepford Cuckoos from New X-Men are named after the cuckoos and The Stepford Wives. Like the Midwich cuckoos, they're outwardly emotionless and have Psychic Powers.

- Heavily referenced in the InCryptid series, where the Backstory Invader Johrlac species are nicknamed "cuckoos", and the two Token Heroic Orcs of that species are named Sarah Zellaby and Angela Baker. Sarah canonically chose her last name from the novel, and her IM username is MIDWICH_GIRL.
- Middlegame by the same author has the twin protagonists discuss the book in the context of their Twin Telepathy and the differences between the children of the book and themselves.
