- The Flintstones: The band appears as The BC-52s, performing "The Bedrock Twitch" at the Cavern on the Green. They also perform a cover of the Flintstones theme song over the end credits.
- My Own Private Idaho: The film takes its title from the group's song "Private Idaho". Gus Van Sant simply liked the phrase.
- One-Trick Pony: The Jonah Levin Band opens for the B-52s. They play "Rock Lobster" while Jonah hangs out backstage.
- The group Throw That Beat In The Garbagecan! took their name from The B-52's "Throw That Beat In The Garbage Can", deleting a space and adding an exclamation mark.
Technology
- The Amiga 500 motherboard was assigned the part number B52. Words etched onto one of its corners include "B52/ROCK LOBSTER". The Amiga 600 and 1200 motherboards were labeled "June Bug" and "Channel Z", while the A590 hard drive was labeled "Party Mix".
- Civilization 6 has the achievement for winning a game with the Romans being "Rome If You Want To".
- The webcomic Manly Guys Doing Manly Things has the future Space Marine Super-Soldier D37-9E-B52, who was never given a proper name. To humanize himself he chose the Call Sign "Rock Lobster" ("Rock" to his siblings) as a reference to the B52s song. He originally wanted to be called "Love Shack", but his siblings vetoed it.
- Family Guy:
- In "The Cleveland-Loretta Quagmire", Peter tries to cheer Cleveland up by singing "Rock Lobster".
- A cutaway from "Screams of Silence: The Story of Brenda Q.", Peter plays "Iraq Lobster", using the same tune and modified lyrics, while a lobster with a turban dances.
- The Simpsons: In "E-I-E-I-(Annoyed Grunt)", a montage of Homer slapping people with a glove is accompanied by a parody of "Love Shack" called "Glove Slap", which is performed by the band themselves.
