  • Saturday Night Live: In one episode, Walter Cronkite (Bill Murray) is interviewing then-President Jimmy Carter (Dan Aykroyd), and taking viewer calls, when a man called in who's stoned out of his mind. Cronkite wants to cut the call, but Carter insists on talking him down, recommending he take some vitamin shots and listen to some music; "Do you have any Allman Brothers?"
  • The West Wing: In the second season episode "Ellie", the Surgeon General, Dr. Griffith, is on an Internet chat show talking about the medical effects of marijuana use, and she says to one questioner that if they want to walk up a flight of stairs without throwing up, they should put their bong back in the closet behind their Allman Brothers albums. Although the most controversial part of the chat is when it seems like Dr. Griffith is talking about decriminalizing marijuana (which was a much more controversial position at the time the episode aired), it's the band reference that becomes a Running Gag on the episode when the senior staff reads the transcript of the show ("The Allman Brothers?" "Keep reading").

  • Hey Arnold!: In series finale, "The Journal", Arnold learns about the time his parents met through their disappearance. When Phil narrates the circumstances behind Arnold's birth, Pookie exclaims how she thought he was "Born on a Grayhound Bus, rolling down Highway 41," to which Phil replies, "No Pookie, that's an old hippie song."
