  • American Graffiti: When Laurie has been ignoring Bob Falfa (after he picks her up), he starts singing "Some Enchanted Evening".
  • City Hall: Frank Anselmo and a waiter at his favorite restaurant sing a few show tunes, including "A Wonderful Guy".
  • The Fabulous Baker Boys: Susie mentions the song "Bali Hai" at one point.
  • The Good Shepherd: At one gathering of the Skull and Bones Society Alumni, Philip Allen leads several of them in a performance of "There is Nothing Like a Dame".
  • J-Men Forever. The villains try to kill the J-Men by flooding the tunnel they're in. "We're gonna wash these J-Men out of our lair!"
  • Trail of the Pink Panther. The shrink treating Chief Inspector Dreyfus urges him to forget about Clouseau, telling him to wash that man right out of his hair. Dreyfus immediately lampshades the reference and dances out the door while singing the song, only to slip and fall down the staircase.

Literature

  • In Our Dumb Century, a 1943 article reports that U.S. Intelligence officers stationed in the South Pacific have determined that "there is nothing like a dame."

Live-Action TV

  • In "For Those In Peril On the Sea" The Goodies are posing as sailors, so Nasty Person insists they sing "There is Nothing Like a Dame" to prove it. Unfortunately they run out of breath on the last note of the song, exposing themselves as imposters.
  • M*A*S*H has referenced the musical a few times:
    • In the first season episode "Dear Dad", when writing to his father about the goings-on at the camp, Hawkeye describes how he and Trapper sabotaged a date night between Frank and Margaret and adds that it turned into "some enchanted evening".
    • The third season episode "There is Nothing Like a Nurse" gets it's title from "There is Nothing Like a Dame".
    • In the sixth season episode "The Winchester Tapes", Charles calls Father Mulcahy a "cockeyed optimist".
  • The Muppet Show has also referenced the musical a few times:
    • In the episode hosted by Connie Stevens, she and Bert sing "Some Enchanted Evening". Wayne (of Wayne and Wanda) also sings the song on the episode hosted by Avery Schreiber.
    • In the episode hosted by Lola Falana, Camila and the rest of the chickens sing, "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta my Hair".
