  • The Muppet Show, combined with What Could Have Been: In an interview with performer Steve Whitmire, he discusses that Lips, the trumpet player for the Electric Mayhem, was imagined with a Louis Armstrong-esque voice, but that it rarely came into fruition because he thought a white performer mimicking a Black voice would be offensive, hence why the character is often silent. After Peter Linz took over performing Lips in 2017, he gave the character a deep voice, but still distinct enough from Armstrong.
