- Steve Buscemi's character from Armageddon (1998) climbs on and jokingly rides a nuclear bomb, although he explains that he was actually referencing The Lone Ranger.
- The sequel of Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine spoofs Dr. Strangelove with the Riding the Bomb scene.
- Dr. Scott from The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a Captain Ersatz of Dr. Strangelove. Due to the actor not wanting to return, the sequel Shock Treatment had a Suspiciously Similar Substitute Strangelove expy called Bert Schnick.
- The titles for Talking Heads' Concert Film Stop Making Sense have titles done by Pablo Ferro, who designed the titles for this film, in the same handwritten manner.
- The war rooms in the Alternate History superhero films Watchmen and X-Men: First Class are almost identical to the one from Dr. Strangelove.
- In Friend of the World, General Gore is an unhinged General Ripper and the last chapter is titled Synthesis or: How I Learned to Swallow the Elephant.
- Major Kong riding the bomb is recreated in The Congress, with the animated replica of Robin Wright's character being put in his place.

- Between the Lines (1992). Mo is infiltrating an Animal Wrongs Group and talks of how her service in the military gave her the skills needed to construct firebombs to blow up fur stores. "You could say I grew to love the bomb."
- In the British mini-series G.B.H., Michael Murray develops some neurotic Character Tics and one of his men mockingly compares him to Dr. Strangelove.
- Farscape. Scorpius wants John Crichton to build him a wormhole weapon that will wipe out the Scarrans. One of Crichton's Imagine Spots involving the neural clone of Scorpius has him imitating a German-accented Albert Einstein, but at one point Scorpius's arm snaps up in a Nazi salute as he mentions ZA VORMHOLE VEAPON!, only to be yanked down by the other arm. Being The Nicknamer, John immediately calls him "Strangelove".
- The music video for Muse's "Time Is Running Out" takes place in a War Room that is nearly identical to the Dr. Strangelove's.
- The music video for Rush's "Distant Early Warning" has the band playing in a set designed after the war room and a boy riding a missile similar to Major Kong riding the bomb.
- The penultimate level of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, in which the player needs to infiltrate a nuclear missile silo to stop a missile before it can impact the eastern seaboard of the United States and cause World War III, is titled "No Fighting In The War Room".
- Professor Von Kriplespac from Conker's Bad Fur Day is a clear expy of Dr. Strangelove given that he's also a wheelchair-bond Mad Scientist with a thick, over the top German accent.
- Half-Life: Decay contains a Dummied Out animation of Dr. Keller getting up from his wheelchair and walking away, as well as an unused voice line where he announces "Mein Führer, I can walk!"
- In Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the scientist developing Peace Walker's AI bears the name Dr. Strangelove.
- The Team Fortress 2 map Coldfront has its main spawn areas modeled after the War Room.
- In the Team Fortress 2 Machinima Emesis Blue, Jane Doe comes across a room at the Conagher Slaughterhouse that is identical to the war room, albeit with skeletons filling the chairs. Towards the end of the entirely black-and-white scene, Blutarch states "We must not allow a respawn gap," referencing General Turgidson's exclamation "Mr. President, we must not allow a mineshaft gap!"
- DuckTales (1987): Episode 13 features a Herr Doktor character named Dr. Strangeduck.
- The Simpsons;
- Homer The Vigilante: At an army store, Homer climbs onto a bomb and has an Imagine Spot where he's Riding the Bomb in order to kill hippies. The owner then points to a sign telling customers not to do that.
- The Couch Gag for "Wild Bart's Can't Be Broken" has the family riding the couch as it's dropped from a plane.
- There's an episode called, $pringfield (or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Legalized Gambling).
- In "Sideshow Bob"s Last Gleaming", Colonel Hapablab and the "Representatives of Television" (which include expies of the Fourth Doctor and Steve Urkel) meet in The War Room.
- The war room in Monsters vs. Aliens is also modelled on the Strangelove war room, and Stephen Colbert's President seems to be a hybrid of Colbert, Pres. Muffley and Strangelove himself; there are also one or two gags regarding an easily-triggered Doomsday Machine protocol whose giant button happens to look just like that of the coffeemaker just on the right of it; and General Powers does a Major Kong shout-out while riding his own plane.
Real Life
- During his libel case against Deborah Lipstadt, David Irving addressed the judge as "mein Führer" leading to Stunned Silence from the entire courtroom. One of the lawyers promptly lampshaded the Dr. Strangelove moment.
