Zoey Clarke is a young coder aiming for a promotion at her company. When an earthquake happens during an MRI, Zoey realizes she can hear the thoughts and feelings of those around her expressed through song, to her abject shock and surprise. She is able to use this ability to connect with a senior coworker she has a crush on, Simon, who is struggling with his father's suicide, as well as her father, who is suffering from a rare neurological disease that leaves him unable to communicate. At the end of the episode, Zoey takes her family on a sailing trip, and she is able to figure out a bug in her company's new software, which nags her the promotion.
