Recap / Yu Gi Oh VRAINS Ep 7 The Angel Of Hanoi

Go To

Feeling that the Knights of Hanoi are behind Blue Angel, Yusaku decides to Duel her in order to figure out what is going on. However, Playmaker is gradually driven into a corner by Blue Angel's tactics, which focus on dealing effect damage. Blue Angel's strong desire to be recognized by her brother has fueled her Dueling, and she won’t hold back...

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Awesome, but Impractical: Although Hanoi's brainwashing gets Blue Angel out of one tight pinch, it eventually puts her in such pain she can't do anything but scream.
  • Captain Obvious: Blue Angel's AI points out that Playmaker used his Skill.
  • Death of a Thousand Cuts: Blue Angel's Trickstar Deck is focused on inflicting small amounts of effect damage to the opponent repeatedly.
  • Mythology Gag: When Blue Angel is under the card's control, she suddenly starts screaming and gains a purple aura- much the way Berserk Yuya did. It even disturbs the audience (which Berserk mode was notable for) and is referred to by Ignis as "berserk."
  • Not So Stoic: Normally putting on a stoic front, Akira loses his cool when he is unable to forcibly end the Duel between Playmaker and Blue Angel.
  • Slipknot Ponytail: After Blue Angel's defeat, her twintails fall out as she falls.
  • Wham Shot: Playmaker Link Summoning Encode Talker for the first time.
  • Worf Had the Flu: While Blue Angel gains the upper hand against Playmaker for most of the Duel, the reason why she ends up losing to him is because of Defect Compiler's anti-burn effect.
