Recap / Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS Ep 51 Man Who Gave Up Charisma

Go To

Playmaker and Soulburner are trying to reach the restricted area. However, the two of them run into GO Onizuka! Soulburner decides to take on GO, so that Playmaker can escape.

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • Break Them by Talking: Soulburner gets on GO's bad side by pointing out that he's incapable of anything but throwing a hissy fit, all because he's no longer number one in LINK VRAINS. This pisses off GO big time.
  • Broken Pedestal: Soulburner makes it clear to GO that he admires the guy as one of the heroes who fought the Knights of Hanoi and saved LINK VRAINS. Thus, he's not very happy at how far the guy has seemingly fallen.
  • Call-Back: The reporters hounding GO remember how GO used Playmaker's identity as leverage to goad Genome into Dueling him, pestering Go about it.
  • Evolving Credits: Gouki the Giant Ogre is replaced by Dinowrestler King T Wrextle in ED3, to show that GO changed his deck after becoming a Bounty Hunter.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Both Playmaker and Soulburner circumvent the trap activated by SOL Technologies like it's no one's business. The same cannot be said for Kenmochi and Yoroizaka, however, as the trap blows up on them, sending them flying off into the distance.
  • It's All About Me: Ever since he abandoned his reputation as a Charisma Duelist, becoming number one in LINK VRAINS was the only thing GO cared about, and thus vows to take down Playmaker and reclaim that reputation.
  • It's Personal: GO cares not for the whole bounty hunting thing, only signing up as a Bounty Hunter for SOL Technologies so he could take down Playmaker and restore his reputation as the number one Duelist in LINK VRAINS.
  • Motive Rant: GO throws a big hissy fit all because he's not number one, playing the victim card and views himself as nothing but a stepping stone for Playmaker, and thus vows to take him down to not only become number one again, but also so everyone will appreciate him.
  • Rage Breaking Point:
    • When the press bombards Go with questions regarding Playmaker, he snaps and tells them to clam it.
    • GO loses his shit when Soulburner labels him a Sore Loser incapable of anything but venting his frustrations all because he's not number one.
  • Reforged into a Minion: Lampshaded by Soulburner, who labels GO as a lap dog working for SOL Technologies; or rather, a Sore Loser incapable of anything but venting his frustrations.
  • The Reveal: It's revealed that GO is now aware of both the Lost Incident/Hanoi Project and Playmaker's connection to it, having been told about it by Akira.
  • Sore Loser: GO really doesn't appreciate it when anyone points out that he's no longer number one in LINK VRAINS.
