Recap / Yu Gi Oh VRAINS Ep 22 Blackened Sun

Go To

Yusaku and co. investigate a mysterious phenomenon known as "Another", where the victims can't log out of LINK VRAINS and stay unconscious in the real world. They successfully identify who the next victim might be using the data they collected. In order to prevent more damage, Yusaku and co. decide to take action.

This episode contains the following tropes:

  • As You Know: Naoki explains the Another phenomenon to Yusaku, think he has no idea about it. Once he finishes, Yusaku reveals Naoki had been mispronouncing the name the entire time.
  • Blatant Lies: Ai claims that the Playmaker seen fighting the three Knights of Hanoi is Yusaku. Yusaku dismissively shoots him down.
  • The Bus Came Back: After a seventeen episode absence, Go Onizuka makes a return.
  • Call-Back: Once again, GO lures out his opponent by disguising himself.
  • Full-Body Disguise: GO disguises himself as Playmaker to lure Dr. Genome into LINK VRAINS. And for extra effect, even has his voice modified to match.
  • It's All My Fault: Go blames himself for failing to save Makoto from being turned into an Another victim.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: GO, disguised as Playmaker, dismissively calls the Knights of Hanoi who confronted him garbage unworthy of Dueling.
  • Revenge: Go vows to get back at Dr. Genome for turning Makoto into Another.
  • Saying Too Much: Ai, who is stuffed inside Yusaku's bag, notes that the Another phenomenon is similar to what happened to Blue Angel, only to be told by Yusaku to save the discussion for later. Naoki appears to have overheard the two, but Yusaku quickly brushes it off.
  • Wham Line: GO claiming that he knows of Playmaker's true identity.
  • You Are Too Late: Yusaku fails to prevent Makoto from being forcefully dragged into LINK VRAINS, and GO arrives too late to stop Dr. Genome from turning Makoto into an Another victim.
