Bohman set up something called a Neuron Link to use the consciousness of humans to create his Data Storm. The Lieutenants of Hanoi, Akira, and Ghost Girl put their lives on the line in an effort to destroy this Neuron Link. They succeed, but Bohman then starts repairing the Neuron Link right afterwards. Playmaker is now in a hopeless pinch. Thus, Ai decides to go for a dangerous gambit!
This episode contains the following tropes:
- Badass Boast: Bohman gloats that the Neuron Link can be restored countless times regardless of the amount of damage inflicted to it and as long as he exists.
- Despair Event Horizon: Defied. While Playmaker is clearly in a disadvantageous situation, he refuses to relent, stands up to Bohman and intends to continue the Duel to the very end for the sake of everyone who sacrificed themselves to stop Bohman.
- Say My Name: Playmaker can only helplessly scream Ai's name after the latter sacrifices himself to disable the Neuron Link.
- Senseless Sacrifice: Even with Ai voluntarily sacrificing himself to stop the Neuron Link, it proves to be fruitless, as Bohman still successfully activates Master Storm Access shortly after.
- Taking the Bullet: Ghost Girl shoves Akira out of the way when Bohman attempts to sacrifice him to power his Neuron Link, though Akira himself falls victim shortly after while he attempts to detonate Ghost Girl's virus bomb in her stead.
