Written by Toshimitsu Takeuchi
Air Date: 11 April 2020 (JP)

Following Yuga's successful installation of "Rush Duel", Luke becomes excited at the prospect of becoming the "King of Duels" via the popularization of "Rush Duel", but recognizes that Goha Corporation will most definitely come down on them should the style be revealed so suddenly. Yuga, meanwhile, showcases no desire to keep his invention from being known and desires that everyone freely enjoy it.

Upon learning Yuga had already told their entire class they had successful implemented his "Road", Luke becomes angered and finds himself unable to convince his partner to keep silent. Romin, watching the entire scene play out, argues they should simply duel to decide the matter at hand, an idea both agree to.

Despite Gakuto's warnings that a duel will last too long and they'll be punished when recess is over, Yuga argues that given his format the argument will be over in no time. And so Yuga and Luke duel to settle the dispute, with the fate of "Rush Duel" at stake.

Tropes:

  • Cannot Keep a Secret: Justified, as though Yuga is smart enough to keep a secret, it's just that he has no wish to keep his "Rush Duel" a secret given his desire to popularize the format. And he does keep his mouth shut when it comes to the livestreaming bit of his plan.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Yuga recognized the possibility of losing, so he converted the drone from last night to livestream.
  • Duels Decide Everything: Surprisingly subverted. Yuga and Luke duel to decide whether to keep "Rush Duels" a secret, but Yuga secretly has his reprogrammed drone livestream the entire duel so the outcome won't matter.
  • Foreshadowing: Just before the duel begins, the kids note that Goha's drone is missing, an oddity given the corporation's strict adherence for their supervision to be the norm, especially in public jurisdiction. It's later revealed it was livestreaming the entire event at the end.
  • I Let You Win: Luke thinks Yuga let him win to teach him a lesson, which Yuga is too nervous to correct him on.
  • Imagine Spot: While discussing how to become the "King of Duels", Luke dreams of entering Goha Corporation with him and Yuga disguising themselves as an adult for a bid to take the seat of President, where he'll take the spot and force "Rush Duel" to become the main format.
  • Instant Web Hit: At the end of the duel Luke learns that the entire world is already aware of the format thanks to Yuga livestreaming the event. Justified, as given how big Duel Monsters is many would be searching to figure out what had just occurred with the new rules implementation.
  • The Magic Poker Equation: Subverted twice. Yuga opens with a mostly dead hand that barely saves him from a first-turn loss, then fails to draw a Fire or Light-attribute monster with Seven Road's effect.
  • Mistaken for Profound: Luke thinks his win against Yuga was a calculated gambit on the latter's part to teach him some humility when his win amounted to nothing. In reality, Yuga was just hedging his bets and lost because of some unlucky draws.
  • Mr. Exposition: Gakuto and Romin to a lesser degree explain the mechanics of "Rush Duel" to the students who are only familiar with the original format, while the former informs Romin of more basic mechanics given her inexperience.
  • Race Against the Clock: Yuga and Luke's duel must end before recess is over, something considered impossible if not for "Rush Duel" being a fast-paced format.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Upon learning that Yuga had immediately told the entire class about "Rush Duel", Luke tackles him with his already red eyes glowing with anger.
  • Schizo Tech: The Goha CEO has, in this world of holograms and satellite communications, a rotary phone that pops out of his desk.
  • Shown Their Work: Regarding Wolfgang Pauli and the idea of the Pauli Effect.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: Romin simply states to Luke that he could duel Yuga to keep his mouth shut.
  • Sure, Let's Go with That: Yuga regarding Luke's assumption that Yuga let Luke win, being far too nervous to correct Luke.
  • Surpassed the Teacher: Well, creator in this case as Luke manages to defeat Yuga despite the latter's assertions that as the creator he wouldn't be beat so easily.
  • Totem Pole Trench: In Luke's Imagine Spot he dreams of doing this with Yuga to infiltrate Goha Corporation and become the President.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Yuga has the "Rush Duel" between him and Luke livestreamed, meaning that regardless of who wins, "Rush Duel" will be revealed to the world.
  • You Are Too Late: By the time Luke defeats Yuga in a "Rush Duel", said new format of Duel Monsters has already become public knowledge because Yuga streamed the match through his modified drone.
