• He Knows Too Much: Viper spots Adrian spying on the island's research facility from the forest then later catches him talking into a tape recorder that he's suspicious. Viper threatens to expel Adrian from the academy if he doesn't participate in a survival duel by tomorrow night, knowing he wouldn't want to disgrace his family name or get hounded by the news media. To guarantee Adrian doesn't figure out anything, he plans to drain all of Adrian's energy with the bio band and kill him or put him in a permanent coma in the dub.
• Making a Splash: Adrian runs a deck of clouds.
• Lethal Joke Character: Adrian's cloud monsters may not look threatening especially with 0 attack and defense, but he knows how to turn harmless clouds into a devastating storm.
• Rewatch Bonus: When watched for the first time, the Viper vs. Adrian plot appears to be a straightforward conflict between a villain and a heroic or neutral character trying to figure out his plan, with the villain planning to take him out for knowing too much. Future events will reveal it's actually an Evil vs. Evil plot, and indeed, several characters would have been a lot better off if Viper had succeeded in killing Adrian.
• Taking You with Me: Upon learning what the bio band really is, Adrian realizes that Viper's trying to make sure he stays quiet. He decides to holds a party and organizes a phony tournament offering a bejeweled duel disk as the prize. With dozens of students dueling, Viper has no choice but to lower the bio bands' setting since murdering a large portion of the student body wouldn't look good.
