Sartorius hires famous scientist Dr. Eisenstein to duel Jaden and reclaim the satellite key his good side gave Jaden.
- Call-Back: Syrus is recuperating in the academy's infirmary after his duel with Zane and the shock collars the previous episode.
- Green-Eyed Monster: The episode begins with Bastion fuming that he's gone unnoticed despite his achievements while Jaden wins through luck. In the Japanese version, he also complains about Jaden's entrance exam placement from freshman year.
- Naked People Are Funny: When Bastion sees Eisenstein loose, he decides to strip his clothes off to symbolize starting over, renouncing the Society of Light, and starting working for the doctor.
- Not Brainwashed: Implied, given Bastion was able to quit the Society of Light without losing a duel.
- Put on a Bus: Bastion asks Dr. Eisenstein to take him under his wing and this would be his last appearance until partway through season three.
