• Back from the Dead: Underworld Circle lets both players bring back one monster per turn and Yami Yugi uses Monster Reborn to bring back Eatos.
• Evil Counterpart: Dreadscythe to Eatos who simply hacks and slashes at all the opponent's monsters.
• Empathic Environment: After Rafael's soul was spared from the Seal of Orichalcos, the dark sky becomes clear and shines over them, symbolizing Rafael's change of heart.
• Fusion Dance: Yami Yugi combines Dark Magician Girl and Timaeus to from Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight and Hermos and Queen's Knight to form Goddess Bow.
• Heel–Face Turn: Rafael redeems himself near the end of the duel; in this case, Redemption Equals Life as it saves him from the Seal of Orichalcos.
• He's Back!: After Dreadscythe and Eatos leave the field due to Yami Yugi's gambit, Rafael uses Underworld Circle to bring back Guardian Grarl before using Soul Charge to give up the rest of his life points to bring back the rest of his monsters. This means he's freed from the Seal's corruption because he has gone back to not wanting any of his monsters in the graveyard.
• Hoist by His Own Petard: Dreadscythe making Rafael give up a card means that when Yami Yugi activates Goddess Bow's effect — The equipped monster is not destroyed and can attack again until the opponent's monster's effect runs out — means Rafael runs out of cards and can't bring Dreadscythe back.
• Mutual Kill: At the end of the showdown against Eatos and Dreadscythe, both monsters are removed from play via Underworld Circle's effect.
