A man from Mai's past, the famous actor Jean-Claude Magnum, returns, wanting to marry her! She isn't interested but he insists on dueling her for her hand in marriage and she accepts, thinking he'll be an easy opponent. However, Magnum's Ninja deck soon proves much more difficult to beat than expected.

- Best Her to Bed Her: Parodied — Mai turned down Jean-Claude's first proposal by telling him to ask her again when he could beat her in a duel. She was only kidding, never expecting he'd take that seriously.
- Broken Pedestal: Joey is a huge fan of Jean Claude Magnum. This is until Magnum tries to kidnap Mai and force her to be his wife. After that, Joey has lost all respect for the action star.
- But for Me, It Was Tuesday: Mai's first reaction when Jean-Claude meets the group is to wonder who this guy is and why he's handing her flowers — she doesn't recognize him at all. To Jean-Claude, she's been the woman he's been determined to marry for years; to Mai, he wasn't even worth remembering.
- Damsel in Distress: Mai is kidnapped by Magnum's ninja and soon left hanging from a flagpole. She loses her grip and falls but Joey breaks her fall when he tries to catch her and she lands on him.
- Engagement Challenge: Mai agrees to marry Jean-Claude if he beats her in a duel.
- Filler: This episode is of no importance to the series' plot.
- Fourth-Date Marriage: And that's being overly generous. In the past, Jean-Claude met Mai on a cruise and proposed to her after losing to her in a duel. No matter how long you stretch out this cruise and potential time for them to have interacted prior, there wasn't even a first date.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Jean-Claude eventually gets jealous of Joey, after seeing how Mai banters with and winks at him.
- Honor Before Reason: Mai already has 6 locator cards, and Jean-Claude is a Battle City competitor. She has no reason to accept his challenge and, the legality of enforcing the Engagement Challenge aside, is risking her slot in the finals if she loses. She insists on dueling him anyway.
- I Was Just Joking: Mai was just kidding when she told her suitor years ago that he had to Best Her to Bed Her. She can't believe he's come back to follow through on it!
- Miles Gloriosus: Magnum plays himself up as a cool ninja, but when his tricks put Mai in real danger, he stands around uselessly while Joey saves her. Mai then declares Joey the real action hero while telling Magnum to sod off.
- Stalker with a Crush: Jean-Claude for Mai — not only has he obsessed over her for years but tries to kidnap her to force her to marry him when it's clear she doesn't reciprocate his feelings at all.
