Yugi is able to take out one piece of Gate Guardian, Suijin, by having his Summoned Skull electrify its water. Despite the loss, the Paradox Brothers aren't worried, as Yugi and Joey's strongest monster, Black Skull Dragon, can't move through the maze at all. They're also able to suck out Yugi and Joey's life points to power up the remaining pieces of Gate Guardian, but with some clever planning Joey is able to use the same strategy to power up their dragon.
Yugi moves his Dark Magician to the end of the maze and activates Monster Replace, switching Dark Magician and Black Skull Dragon's positions. The dragon attacks Gate Guardian, destroying it and winning the Duel for Yugi and Joey. it's not over yet, though—now they must answer the door riddle. Having correctly guessed that the Paradox Brothers can rig the doors so neither place leads to the castle, Yugi pulls a Two-Headed Coin trick and picks the opposite door of the one they assumed he'd picked so there was no way they could lose.
Meanwhile, in the dungeons, Seto Kaiba is seconds away from freeing Mokuba when Pegasus himself intervenes. No longer in the mood for games, he tells Kaiba that he'll need Star Chips and a dueling glove if he wants the right to face him in a duel. Pegasus acts on his threat by trapping Mokuba's soul in a card in front of his eyes, saying that the only way he can win him back is if he duels and defeats Yugi first. With no choice, Kaiba agrees to Pegasus's demands.

- Hoist by His Own Petard: Yugi and Joey defeat the Paradox Brothers by using their own cards against them; Joey uses Copycat to replicate a card they used to power up his and Yugi's monsters, and Yugi resurrects Suijin to act as a defence long enough for him and Joey to defeat the brothers' remaining monsters.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Pegasus is cold and ruthless the entire time he's talking to Kaiba, showing just how serious a threat he can be.
