Recap / Xiaolin Showdown Chucky Choo

Go To

After taking down Jack Spicer and retrieving the latest Shen Gong Wu (Kusuzu Atom), the monks run into a yellow pot-bellied dragon named Chucky Choo, who's got interesting stories to tell and an even MORE interesting past with a certain green temple dragon...

Tropes

  • Batman Gambit: Chucky Choo apparently banked on Wuya being a sore winner and attempting to harm/kill Dojo following their Showdown and rigged the fake Kusuzu Atom to destroy what she thought were her legit stolen Wu,which actually turned out to be his counterfeit Wu collection, thus dissuading Wuya from pursuing the monks for Shen Gong Wu (for a little while at least).
  • Bullying a Dragon: Chucky sold questionable goods to the show's various villains, anyone of which could've mangled him and a few of which team up to do just that. Of course, Dojo's the one who ends up suffering for it.
  • Call-Back: To "Something Jermaine", concerning the thief who stole Dojo's prized family yo-yo. It turns out to be Chucky (he claims he "found" it, but could never track Dojo down to return to him, but see Here We Go Again! for that...).
  • Con Man: Chucky is this.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: Dojo starts out strong early on during the "Xiaolin Pinball" Showdown, but once Wuya knocks him down the first time, it quickly goes downhill for the little guy.
  • Disintegrator Ray: The Kusuzu Atom can vaporize enemies to mere atoms.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Dojo calling Master Fung and seeing him with another dragon is played like someone catching their significant other cheating on them.
  • Here We Go Again!: Just when Dojo's fully come around to trusting Chucky by the end of the episode, it turns out the yo-yo Chucky "found" was yet another fake.
  • Hidden Heart of Gold: Chucky's an unapologetic scammer who will do as he pleases, but he does ultimately help out the protagonists against Wuya.
  • Honest John's Dealership: Chucky claims to have real Shen Gong Wu, but they're just replicas.
  • It's All About Me: How Chucky justifies selling lousy merchandise and playing both sides.
  • Made in Country X: The first sign that something is amiss with the monks' Wudai Weapons.
  • New Rules as the Plot Demands: When Wuya challenges Dojo to a Showdown but he has no Wu to wager against her, Chucky checks the rule book and discovers a mystic dragon is allowed to be Wu-less in a Showdown as long as he or she doesn't have a criminal recordnote
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed: Maurice LaMarche does his Jon Lovitz impression for Chucky.
  • Noodle Incident: It's implied that Dojo had a run-in with the law at one point, but was ultimately not convicted.
  • Once an Episode: The "Xiaolin Pinball" Showdown featuring Dojo (who, as long as he doesn't have a criminal record, isn't required to have Wu in a showdown as a mystical dragon) against Wuya (also Wu-less for reasons unknown) for the Orb of Tornami and the fake bag of Shen Gong Wu, with the winner being the first to score 1 million points. Wuya wins but ends up disintegrating what she thinks are real Wu and storms off with nothing to show for her efforts.
  • Plothole:
    • Dojo and Wuya enter a showdown for the Orb of Tornami. It turns out to be a fake since Chucky hid the Shen Gong Wu in Dojo's nose, which raises the question of how Dojo and Wuya could showdown for a fake Wu.
    • When Chucky uses the Changing Chopsticks to bring the Shen Gong Wu out of Dojo's nostrils, one of them is the Serpent's Tail, despite Chase possessing it since "Saving Omi".
  • Spanner in the Works: The pinball showdown only occurs because the Cyclops kicked Dojo. This led to him getting knocked into the vault and touching the Orb of Tornami just as Wuya grabbed it.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Double subverted by Jack. He's the only villain to ask Chucky if the goods are legit before buying. Chucky lets him try out the phony Shroud of Shadows and claims to not see him. Jack falls for it, never once thinking to look at himself or approach someone not trying to get his money.
  • "You!" Exclamation: Dojo upon seeing Chucky.
