Tropes

  • The Bad Guy Wins: Jack succeeds in robbing the Wu vault, leaving only the Mantis Flip Coin behind.
  • Boring, but Practical: Jack uses the Changing Chopsticks to shrink himself down enough to do pinpoint-accurate wiring and soldering on his latest robotic creation.
  • Capture and Replicate: Jack's plan was to swap out Kimiko for the Chameleon-bot, giving him three different ways to win: the robot steals the Wu, the robot destroys the monks from the inside, or Jack steals the Wu while the robot fights the monks.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The virus Raimondo placed in her pad aids Kimiko in escaping from the cage Jack has her in.
  • Foreshadowing: Wuya mentions that soon, "Mala Mala Jong will rise again!"
Jack: What's a Mala Mala Jong?
Wuya: All good things in time, Jack...and some bad things, too!
  • Hourglass Plot: The episode begins with the monks having most of the Shen Gong Wu while Jack only has one. By the end of the episode, Jack has the majority while the monks only have one.
  • How Did You Know? I Didn't: After the entire episode of showing off his Tiger Instincts, when Omi picked out the Chameleon-bot from the real Kimiko, he admitted that he was just guessing.
  • Irony: The only Wu Jack left behind at the Temple, the Mantis Flip Coin, is the very first one he ever found. Though he didn’t really need it, so the irony is a bit moot.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: This episode was perhaps Jack's best moment in the series.note
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: Clay got really sore when his hat ended up getting blasted by the Eye of Dashi again.
  • Once an Episode: The "showdown" (really a one-sided farce) pitching Jack against Chameleon!Kimiko in a statue-hopping contest for the Helmet of Jong, with Jack's Changing Chopsticks versus "Kimiko's" Third Arm Sash. Jack wins after Chameleon!Kimiko "falls."
  • Series Continuity Error: The Xiaolin monks state that Jack has one Shen Gong Wu in his possession, that being the Changing Chopsticks, while forgetting he also had the Jetbootsu, though it’s likely that they, Jack and even Wuya merely forgot about the Jetbootsu.
  • Spot the Imposter: Near the end of the episode, Omi has to figure out which Kimiko is the real one and which is the imposter. His choice is right, but he admits that he was just guessing.
  • Tempting Fate: The monks make fun of the Changing Chopsticks, the only Wu still in Jack's possession, thinking that he couldn't do a lot of damage with it. Boy, did they end up regretting those words...
  • What Kind of Lame Power Is Heart, Anyway?: Wuya thought that the Changing Chopsticks by themselves were useless. Jack ends up proving her wrong.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Even though the monks defeated the Chameleon-bot, Jack managed to swipe most of the Shen Gong Wu during the battle.
