Xena engineers a giant battle between Caesar and Pompey to save Greece.
Tropes
- The Chains of Commanding: Gabrielle is hesitant to take command of Phlanagus' forces. But when she does gain command, she follows Xena's orders exactly. After the battle, the loss of life haunts her.
- Enemy Civil War: The Real Life war between Caesar and Pompey is well under way by now.
- Hope Spot: It looked like Gabrielle will save Phlanagus' life when she threw her spear, but she missed.
- False Flag Operation: Xena's plan is to pretend to be Caesar's army and take over a hill, baiting Pompey to take the land for himself which would bring Caesar into the brawl.
- Pyrrhic Victory: Both Caesar's and Pompey's Grecian armies may have destroyed each other, but it came at a cost of burning the village to the ground as well as the lives of many of Phlanagus' men, including Phlanagus himself.
- Salt the Earth: Done by the villagers to their own time. That way, neither Caesar nor Pompey could use the supplies there.
