Original airdate: June 5th, 2015

Sparkling Clean: Becky uses her superpowers to hide a mess. This part's associated vocabulary words are "unruly" and "shirk".

The Smile Collector: Chuck causes trouble near Violet's art stand. This part's associated vocabulary words are "unique" and "repulsive".

"Sparkling Clean" contains the following tropes:

  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Count Cloudy's gigantic weeds block out the sun, meaning that the Wondertown elves can't grow anything. Also, their personalities are obnoxious.
  • Big "NO!": WordGirl does this when she sees that Sparkletopia has lost its sparkle in Becky's dream.
  • Crashing Dreams: As Becky wakes up from her dream, Pretty Princess tells her that she's "all done dappling". It turns out it's actually her dad saying it, referring to his gardening from earlier in the episode.
  • Dream Sequence: When falling asleep in front of the Pretty Princess Magic Pony Power Hour marathon, Becky has one in which she has to save a de-sparkled Sparkletopia as WordGirl by doing exaggerated versions of the chores she put off.
  • Got Me Doing It: WordGirl accidentally catches Pretty Princess's Smurfing when she quotes something the princess said earlier.
  • I Just Like Saying the Word: Magic Pony asks WordGirl what the word "shirk" means, as he loves to say it. He proceeds to do so several times in a row.
  • It's the Best Whatever, Ever!: While waiting for the Pretty Princess Magic Pony Power Hour marathon to start at the beginning of the episode, Becky announces that it's going to be the best... day... ever!
  • Letting the Air out of the Band: When WordGirl enters Pretty Princess's royal palace and sees a gigantic pile of laundry, the dreamlike flute music that was playing in the background dies down.
  • No Antagonist: WordGirl doesn't fight any villains in this episode. The closest she gets is pulling out some talking giant weeds in a dream.
  • Smurfing: After WordGirl cleans up the butterscotch all over Sparkletopia, Pretty Princess says, "Don't put off until sparklemorrow what can be done sparkleday!"
  • Sugar Apocalypse: Downplayed. In Becky's dream, Sparkletopia has lost its sparkle, leaving it dark and dreary.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Superspeed alone isn't going to instantly clean a pile of dirty dishes. You still need to put in the effort to actually clean them.
  • Talking in Your Sleep: Becky starts doing this at the end of the episode, when she falls asleep a second time after doing her chores properly.
  • Verbal Backspace: Before WordGirl's final dream task, Pretty Princess tells her that her final chore is just around the corner. When WordGirl questions what she means by "chore", she amends it to "fun adventure".

"The Smile Collector" contains the following tropes:

  • Behind the Black: Nobody notices the giant sandwich crusher Chuck has positioned over the grocery store until he points it out.
  • Calling Me a Logarithm: Played with. Chuck is insulted by the grocery store manager calling his sandwich repulsive, even though he doesn't know what the word means. Only in this case, it actually is an insult.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Won't let Chuck sell his latest sandwich creation in front of your grocery store? Prepare to have it crushed!
  • Hamster-Wheel Power: After Captain HuggyFace breaks it, Chuck powers his crusher by running on a treadmill.
  • Rhetorical Question Blunder: When Becky asks to try Chuck's new sandwich and he replies that he's busy trying to crush the grocery store, she asks if he's Chuck the Evil Sandwich-Making Guy or Chuck the Evil Grocery Store-Crushing Guy. He replies the former, because "that's what it says on [his] mail."
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: When Violet jokes that Becky is almost as busy as WordGirl:
Becky: Yeah! Yeah, almost! But I'm sure not WordGirl! And I never have to dart away to fight crime, nope! So I'll be here by your side to support you and help you all day! Yup.
  • Take a Third Option: Lampshaded. When the narrator outlines how Becky has to choose between stopping Chuck and breaking her promise to stay by Violet's side, she asks if there isn't a third option. The narrator indirectly suggests that she find a way to stop Chuck as Becky.
  • Tastes Better Than It Looks: When Becky is eventually forced to try Chuck's cottage cheese, chocolate, and octopus sandwiches, she finds that they're actually pretty good, despite how disgusting they look.
  • Verbal Backspace: When Becky apologizes about not being able to help Violet with her lemonade stand.
Becky: Yeah, sorry about that. Mr. Big— [Bob elbows her] I mean, something big came up.
