There's a special event happening at the Suburban Outfitters near Waverly Place; the store is holding its annual Crazy 10-Minute Sale, wherein all of its clothes are discounted to the point of almost being free. Alex, tired of her enemy Gigi upping and humiliating her at school, wants to go to get a fancy jacket. However, the sale happens to be taking place the same day as her wizard training, so her dad Jerry refuses to let her go. Undeterred, Alex uses the "Edgebono Utoosis" spell her father taught her to clone herself, allowing her to head to the store, and for her to show up at training; however, between her mom also heading to the sale, her clone having odd quirks, and Max receiving a new wand that he uses to (unknowingly) toy with her, her plan will not last for long.
Tropes
- Accidentally Real Fake Address: Harper asks Theresa to get her and Alex some "tappucinos", in a bid to get her out of the store so Alex doesn't get caught. Harper acknowledges that she made the drink up. However, Theresa eventually arrives back at the store with a handful of cups of tappucino.
- Embarrassing First Name: Before her parents drag her out the store, Alex announces over the store's speakers that Gigi's first name is Gertrude.
- For Want Of A Nail: If Alex simply bit the bullet and stayed at the home wizarding lesson, she could have gone to the store herself to get the jacket or have her mom surprise her with it.
- Funny Background Event: When Alex gushes about the titular sale during the Cold Open, you can see Max rolling his eyes in the background.
- Not So Above It All: Jerry ultimately grounds Alex for using her magic to sneak out of the house. However, after seeing the powers that the duplication spell has, in The Tag he has Alex clone him so he can watch "the big game" at home while his clone dances with Mom.
- Oh, Crap!: Justin tells Max he should use Dad's wand to get Alex's clone up, who's too heavy, which Max can't find. He then sits on the couch and hears a loud crunch...Max: Either I just found Dad's wand, or I broke my butt knuckle.
- Shout-Out: Max's "EWand" is clearly modeled after a Wii remote. He even accidentally throws it as a result of not using the wrist strap.
- The duplication spell's name, "Edgebono Utoosis", which name-checks The Edge, Bono, and U2.
- Spectacular Spinning: Max and Justin spin around Alex's clone for fun with the former's new wand, unaware that due to the "eMimic" feature they're making Alex spin around like a tornado at the store.
- Title Drop: The titular sale is name-dropped several times in the episode.
- We Need a Distraction: Harper tries getting Theresa out of the store by suggesting she get her and Alex some "tappucinos"; this is something she made up, but as it turns out they are a thing.
- You Are Grounded!: Alex's ultimate fate. Max and Justin are nearly about to get the same treatment for some accidental mishaps (the former for breaking Jerry's wand, the latter for breaking Jerry's drill), but Jerry begrudgingly lets them off the hook since they didn't use magic.
