Episode 136: Home Field

Takes place 4-6 February 2013.

The heroes are shown doing their best to fight against the influence of the Anti-Life.

We also see a new version of the SI who is hired to police and/or protect alien life on Earth from distrusting humans.

  • Alternate Universe: We see a new version of the SI who ended up on an Earth that is secretly inhabited by various alien species. He takes up the job of policing them and protecting them from humans who would attack them.
  • Beard of Evil: Averted. Lex Luthor of Earth -16 is the only superhero on the planet and has a beard and mustache. Match lampshades the trope after he sees him for the first time.
There's a joke on the internet about goatee beards being a sure sign that someone's an evil duplicate, but this Lex Luthor is a good duplicate.
  • Blue-and-Orange Morality: We get some insight as to how people who are influenced by the Anti-Life see things ever since being affected.
  • Downer Ending: The episode ends with Mannheim victorious, with the heroes who faced him fleeing after being affected by a new facet of the Anti-Life.
  • Entertainingly Wrong: At least some members of the Alliance think Green Knight is an alien mercenary.
  • A Lighter Shade of Black: Mistress, aka Karon Chase, is one of the people who've taken command of the Justified, but she opposes Mannheim and only does this in order to protect her girlfriend Holly.
  • Logical Latecomer: Robin, after seeing how utterly insane Earth -16 is, points out that such a society couldn't have possibly resulted in what currently exists. His questioning ends up convincing Ultrawoman that something strange is going on with the planet beyond the fact that almost everyone is Stupid Evil.
  • Mythology Gag: Canis gives a Badass Boast inspired by the one given by Bane.
"Ah, you think Anti-Life is your ally? You merely adopted the Anti-Life! I was born in it, moulded by it! I knew nothing of freedom until I was already a man, by then it was nothing to me but cloying!"
  • Switching P.O.V.: This episode features the POVs of the various heroes who fighting against the influence of the Anti-Life, and the POVs of several residents of Earth -16.
  • These Hands Have Killed: Green Knight kills an Alliance soldier in order to protect two defenseless aliens.
