Recap / Whiskey Cavalier S 1 E 01 Pilot

Go To

Pilot is the first episode of Whiskey Cavalier's first season.

FBI agent Will Chase, code name Whiskey Cavalier, who recently got his heart broken by his fiance, is doing a mission with his friend and partner, Ray. When Ray gets stuck in traffic and the op goes bad, Will steps in and salvages the mission. Afterwards, his boss sends him on a mission to Moscow to retrieve an NSA asset-turned whisleblower, but the op goes sideways when CIA agent Frankie Trowbridge interferes. The two fight for control over the mission and each gains the upper hand several times, but are forced to work together when a group of bad guys catches up with them at a train station. Frankie gets shot, and Will gets her to Ray's cottage, where he performs emergency surgery on her to remove a piece of her shirt that got lodged inside the bullet wound. Afterwards, he finds out Ray was sleeping with his ex-fiance. They get in a fight, which is interrupted by their boss, who arrives to collect the whistleblower. They realize he's dirty, and he reveals that he's been selling evidence on the black market. Before he can shoot them, however, Frankie wakes up and throws a bomb, allowing them to get the upper hand. Whiskey then throws a knife at him, hitting him in the chest and killing him.

At the conclusion of the mission, they return to the New York FBI field office, where he, Frankie, Edgar, and their two close friends are assigned to work together.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Establishing Character Moment: As expected for a pilot episode:
    • Will crying over his break up, and other moments which demonstrate his high EQ (emotional quotient)
    • Ray, being stuck in traffic while driving from a girl's apartment to the op site. This establishes him as the Chick Magnet.
    • Edgar cracking jokes, and also displaying a moment of seriousness when the FBI agent-in-charge is forcing him to give up the information.
    • Frankie, when managing to secure custody of Edgar, and again when trying to lose Will in Moscow.
