Issue #153 of The Mighty Thor saw Loki briefly manage to successfully steal Mjolnir for himself. In the original course of events, Donald Blake and Sif were able to take the hammer back in time to stop Loki, but in this version of events Loki kills them both and goes on to attack his enemies... with more unfortunate results than he was expecting.

- Chronic Backstabbing Disorder: Once Loki has acquired the power of Mjolnir, one of his first targets is Karnilla, on the grounds that she helped him acquire the hammer in the first place and he can't chance that she won't turn on him later.
- Gone Horribly Right: Loki wanted the power to destroy Asgard and he got his wish in the form of Surtur attacking Asgard after Loki has killed most of its defenders and completely destroying the universe.
- Omnicidal Maniac: Surtur is presented as gleeful in the knowledge that his fires will destroy the universe.
