Tropes present in The Missing Sky include:
- Call-Back: Technically all the way back to the very first episode! We finally get an explanation for the city of tiny people beneath the Desert Flower Bowling Alley and Arcade Fun Complex.
- The Reveal: Turns out the underground city is a version of Night Vale which was shrunk and transported there by Huntokar many years before the series even began. From the point of view of the inhabitants (expressed to us by another version of Cecil) the sky just disappeared a number of years ago. The few encounters with Night Vale residents are seen as a great war with a race of giants.
