"I know many of you have a few things you’d like to say. So let me start things off: Welcome to Night Vale."
Welcome to Night Vale's 100th Episode. A toast!
Tropes present in Toast include:
- Dead Man Writing: With a good dose of tragic irony, Hiram McDaniels' appearance is in the form of a pre-recorded message he made in prison in case there's a party. The now deceased Violet head is too paranoid to have anything he says recorded, and simply asserts that he'll eventually get a chance to say his congratulations in person.
- Milestone Celebration: In celebration of the show's 100th episode, this episode features every voice actor that has ever voiced even a small role (yes, even a cameo by Jeffrey Cranor as Carlos' original voice) in Welcome To Night Vale.note
- Relationship Upgrade: Cecil and Carlos are married!
- Wedding Episode: Variation — a wedding is what's being toasted, but you don't find out until the end.
- Wham Line: It is kept somewhat vague what is actually being toasted, and while you might have figured it out by this point, just in case:Cecil: Stay tuned next for a drunk, newly married couple, long after the well-wishers have left, piling up bags of garbage and stacking chairs in a rented banquet hall, because they want to get their deposit back
"Today’s proverb: 'It’s always darkest before the dawn', we are often reassured by people who are totally wrong about how the sun works."
