Panda finds an artistic muse in the oddest of things: Charlie.

Tropes:

  • Continuity Nod: Charlie's snake friends from "Charlie and the Snake" and "Ralph" stand guard over his "house" in the woods.
  • Dramatic Drop: Ice Bear drops the plate of century eggs he made when he sees Panda's portrait of Charlie.
  • Friend-or-Idol Decision: The main conflict of the episode. Panda finally makes a painting (of Charlie) that impresses his strict art teacher and an art collector who wants to buy it. However, Panda already promised Charlie that he could keep the painting, which Charlie treasures deeply. Panda steals the painting back and takes it to the art collector, but as the collector starts to leave, Panda changes his mind and takes it back, and in the process gets mud on the painting. The art collector is furious at him for "ruining" the painting and leaves, and the teacher changes his grade to an F minus. However, Charlie is thrilled when Panda gives the painting back to him, and that makes Panda feel better, showing that friendship is more important than fame.
  • F--: Panda by changing his mind, he decides to take Panda's painting back to Charlie which causes him to get an F-.
  • The Muse: Charlie turns Panda from a Stylistic Suck Animesque amateur sketcher, to master artist.
  • Not What It Looks Like: Panda says it when Grizz and Ice Bear catch him being hugged by Charlie.
Ice Bear: Ice Bear won't judge. Out loud.
  • Shout-Out: While trying to reproduce his first painting of Charlie, Panda draws Charlie in the style of many classic paintings, including Vincent van Gogh's self-portrait, Girl with a Pearl Earring, The Scream, and The Son of Man.
  • Standard Snippet: The scenes of Panda painting are set to the finale from "Dance of the Hours".
  • Stern Teacher: Possibly subverted with Panda's art teacher. She gives her students mediocre grades (mostly B's and C's) on a whim, just from glancing at their paintings for a second. When Panda's painting of Charlie impresses her, however, she contacts an art collector who wants to buy it, and tells Panda it will be a great opportunity for him, hinting that she's not all bad. But when Panda chooses the friend in his Friend-or-Idol Decision, she is not pleased and gives him an F minus before leaving. It was nice of her to call in the art collector, but... that's kind of cold.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial:
    • Panda remarks that a painting of Miki-chan (his Companion Cube body pillow) is of "a person".
    • One of the signs outside Charlie's home (an abandoned car in the middle of the woods) reads "Nobody lives here!!"
  • Talking in Your Sleep: While a sleeping Charlie bear-hugs Panda, he mutters "It's okay, Panda, I'd love to help you with your laundry..."
  • Through the Eyes of Madness: When he contemplates stealing back his original picture of Charlie, a guilt-ridden Panda hallucinates that his other paintings of Charlie are talking to him.
