"Ice Bear will take care of this"

"It’s got action, adventure, neon nights, sweet synthesizer music, new characters, EVERYTHING!."
Lauren Sassen (Storyboard Artist)

Ice Bear decides to take his upgraded Roomba for a ride as he goes to get groceries. As he was paying for his groceries his Roomba gets stolen. Now it's up to him to find the thieves and get his ride back.

Tropes:

  • A Day in the Limelight: The episode focuses on Ice Bear as he has a late-night neo-noir adventure.
  • Affectionate Parody: To neo noir films like Drive (2011), Blue Velvet, and Streets of Fire. There is a lot of attention to detail on lighting, music, and camera that invoke the style of those films. The title even uses the same Risky Business font that Drive uses for its font.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Ice Bear gets his Roomba back but it got badly damaged and Barry, the guy who stole it, got away. Not to mention he ended up giving the Pizza Bagels he got for the other bears to other people as payment for info. So in other words, his trip to the store was All for Nothing. (Ice Bear, when quizzed upon what happened, gives the following very ironic and suspicious denial: "Long lines.") Thankfully, the ending implies the Roomba isn't beyond repair, and later episodes see him successfully upgrading it.
  • Cold Open: The episode opens with Ice Bear heading out to do some late-night grocery shopping, with the title not appearing until about a minute into the episode.
  • Dogpile Of Doom: All of the other robots pile on Ice Bear after he's disarmed. When Ice Bear's beloved Roomba is destroyed, Ice Bear goes into an Unstoppable Rage and throws them all off.
  • Film Noir: Neo noir to be more specific.
  • Food as Bribe: Ice Bear bribes his way into an Internet cafe with the pizza bagels he bought, and leaves another box as a gift for Yana.
  • Ironic Death: Attempted when Barry tries to kill Ice Bear with Ice Bear's own vacuum-bot.
  • Join or Die: Barry offered Ice Bear a chance to join his company. When Ice Bear refuses he has the Roomba try to kill Ice Bear.
Barry: Look, we're always scouting for new talent in the tech industry so I propose we make a deal. Join our company, become one of us. What do you say?
Ice Bear: Ice Bear will break you.
Barry: Hmm. Well, you can't blame me for trying. If it's a fight you want then it's a fight you shall have.
  • Kick the Dog: Barry has the Roomba destroyed out of spite and mocks Ice Bear for his failure by getting away with it.
  • Noodle Incident: Ice Bear's history with the Russian barista, implied to be romantic. She also complains that the last time she helped out Ice Bear, he crashed her car and she wound up getting thirty stitches in her shoulder.
  • Sequel Hook: The ending implies that Barry will become a recurring character.
Ice Bear: Ice Bear is gonna find you one day.
    Barry: Good luck.
  • Single-Stroke Battle: With Barry at the controls, Ice Bear's Roomba takes down its opponent in an underground bot-fighting arena in a single strike.
  • Suspiciously Similar Song:
    • A song that sounds like "Battle without Honor or Humanity" from Kill Bill plays while Ice Bear is destroying robots in a fit of rage .
    • The episode also features a synth track that sounds vaguely similar to Kavinsky's 'Nightcall', from the soundtrack of Drive (2011).
  • Unflinching Faith in the Brakes: When Barry attacks Ice Bear with his own Roomba, Ice Bear just calmly sits down and claps his paws, activating the Roomba's override.
  • Unstoppable Rage: Ice Bear goes into one (albeit a silent one) and destroys the other robots with his bare hands (no pun intended) after Barry has the Roomba destroyed.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: The checkout clerk distracting Ice Bear from keeping his Roomba away from Barry and his gang allows the latter to steal it, triggering the conflict of the episode.
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: Barry, but not before taunting Ice Bear with a hologram.
  • We Will Meet Again: Ice Bear to Barry at the end. It's Personal, indeed.
  • "You!" Exclamation: Yana, the barista at the Internet cafe Ice Bear goes to, has this reaction to seeing Ice Bear.
