During the Tribe cats' journey to their new home, the group is trapped by four eagles underneath an overhang. After waiting there most of the day, they finally decide that they have to stand and fight, to kill one of the eagles and prove that they aren't prey. Bright Stream is afraid, but she's determined to protect her Tribemates. They put their plan into action, and it seems to go well at first, but then Gray Wing is injured. Bright Stream drops back to help, and the two of them crawl beneath a bush... but then Bright Stream feels herself being pulled backward and into the air. She fights to free herself, but her strength gives out. With the last of her energy she declares her love for Clear Sky, and everything goes dark.
