Keith follows Shiro's ship and makes it through the wormhole. However, Honerva orders Shiro to lure Keith away using the bond between them against him. Lotor is confronted by Honerva and freed by Acxa. Keith ends up at a factory where test tubes hold several clones of Shiro.

- Break Them by Talking: Shiro (or rather his clone) gives a cruel speech to Keith using his knowledge of Keith's past to break him down emotionally. By this point, however, Keith's already learned the truth and has had two years to come to terms with it.Shiro: I should have abandoned you just like your parents did! They saw that you were broken, worthless, I should have seen it too.
- Casual Danger Dialogue: Lotor when addressing Zethrid and Ezor.
- Cross-Referenced Titles: To the first season finale "The Black Paladin".
- Glamour Failure: At several points in the fight, Keith's features become more Galra-like — gaining eyes with yellow sclera and slitted pupils, and fanged teeth.

- Properly Paranoid: Pidge had created a virus to forcibly shut down Shiro's prosthetic in case the Galrans ever tried to attack him through it. It allows her to stop the virus that had been smuggled onto the Castle of Lions inside the arm.
- Shout-Out: The fight between Keith and "Shiro" has obvious nods to the climactic fight in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which Joaquim Dos Santos is a professed fan of. It even has some parallels to Obi-Wan and Anakin's duel in Revenge of the Sith right down to the victorious hero cutting off his friend's arm. It's really driven home when the one who doesn't want to fight tells the other how they were like a brother to them and that they loved them.
