Lance: They found us again? How is that possible?! Is that possible? That doesn't seem possible!

Zarkon and his fleet keep finding the Castle of Lions and Voltron, which forces them to go on the run, hopping from one galaxy to the next. With the crystals needed for wormholes shattered, and Allura exhausted, the team knows they can't outrun Zarkon forever.

Tropes for this episode include the following:

  • Bizarrchitecture: Both Lance and Keith find out that the Castle has a pool and set out to spend what they assume will be an afternoon off relaxing in it. They get to the room it's in, only to find it on the ceiling.
  • Bizarre Alien Biology: Alteans can get a virus called the slipperies, which causes them to sweat profusely. It's harmless and not contagious, according to Allura, but it's embarrassing for Coran when he gets it (mostly because it's usually found in older Alteans).
  • Chekhov's Gun:
    • Hunk's cookies end up providing the closest substitute to the crystals.
    • Coran's case of the slipperies ends up making the crystals shiny enough to perform the last jump.
    • Pidge learning some Altean and recognizing the word Coran was asking for as something Hunk used in his cookies.
  • Fanservice: Keith and Lance are both seen shirtless when trying to get to the castle's pool, and there's a lot of focus on their legs and feet when they try to climb up the elevator.
  • I Got You Covered: Keith and Lance say this to each other as they take over their defense drones a second time to protect the castle from another wave of Galra ships.
  • Lethal Chef: Hunk is usually a good cook, but making cookies with alien ingredients leads to them being hard as rocks. He actually breaks his teeth trying to eat one.
  • Motivated by Fear: The one way Pidge learns the Altean language.
  • Never Say "Die": Subverted, Lance screams this repeatedly just as Allura powers up the ship for the wormhole.
  • No Kill like Overkill: Zarkon brings his entire fleet to handle Voltron and the castle.
  • Oh, Crap!: Pidge reacts this way when she realizes what "Safety off" on the language program means.
  • Right for the Wrong Reasons: When it's determined that Zarkon cannot be tracking the Castle of Lions by technological reasons, Allura concludes that Zarkon must be tracking them supernaturally through her. She's right that Zarkon is tracking them supernaturally, but it's through his connection to the Black Lion that he keeps finding them.
  • Super Mode: Coran looks like he's turning into a super-saiyan in order to clean the last of the lenses.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: When the elevator to the pool fails, Lance and Keith reluctantly work together to get to the nearest exit.
  • Tired of Running: Keith angrily suggests that the team stop running and actually take Zarkon head-on when he finds them a second time. Allura and Shiro immediately shoot the idea down.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: The Paladins have to hold the lenses in particularly difficult positions in order for the castle to make the wormhole jump.
  • Uncomfortable Elevator Moment: Lance and Keith, while riding in the elevator to the castle pool, agree that they will stay on opposite sides of the pool. They're still not happy about it. Then the elevator stops working...
  • Walking Shirtless Scene: Both Lance and Keith go to find the swimming pool, and for half the episode are in their swimsuits.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?:
    • Shiro says they can't use Voltron against the Galra fleet because Zarkon nearly tore them apart the last time they encountered.
    • Haggar tells Zarkon to destroy the Castle of Lions and Allura. Zarkon ignores her in favor of chasing Voltron. This comes back to bite him when the ignored Castle sneaks up on him while he's focusing on Voltron and damages his flagship.
  • Whole-Plot Reference: This episode shares the bare bones of the Battlestar Galactica (2003) episode "33"; the invincible Big Bad inexplicably following the good guys and their ship through FTL jumps, even though our heroes desperately need rest.
  • Women Are Wiser: Haggar knows that they have to take down the Castle of Lions.
  • Worf Had the Flu:
    • Subverted with Coran's slipperies. Due to him slipping around, he actually reaches the control rooms faster.
    • Allura is exhausted from doing multiple portal jumps, and the the ship's crystals break, so the team can't escape to different galaxies.
  • "You!" Exclamation: Keith shoots down a group of flyers that Lance was aiming at and in retaliation Lance hits his droid against Keith. This causes Keith to angrily exclaim, "You!" before the two start bashing their drones together.
