Allura: What's your bloodthirstiness on a scale of one to five? One being, "No thanks, I'm full" and five being, "Unquenchable".
Looking for useful information in Sendak's extracted memories, the crew finds a mysterious hidden Galran station that cannot normally be detected, and decide to check it out.

Tropes:

  • Awesome by Analysis: Shiro remembers how he escaped the Galra ship he was on; he realized that the bulk of guards are robots running on a strict and predictable patrol routine, and he is able to remember the timings he memorized to escape to infiltrate the ship.
  • Bavarian Fire Drill: Allura tries to hold off a nosy sentry who won't leave her alone, and asks if he can be transferred over because nothing happens on their ship.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Shiro is trying download information while Allura acts as a distraction, pretending to be a Galra soldier. Another soldier who chats with Allura says he wants a transfer, as nothing ever happens on the ship he's assigned to. Shiro sets off the alarm, the soldier reacts, and Allura knocks the door off the hinges and smashes the poor guy between it and a wall.
  • Big "NO!": Shiro says this as his pod doors close and leaving Allura behind.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Keith is completely overpowered by the Galra Druid, who makes full use of Teleport Spam and Shock and Awe powers to toss him around and keep him on the defensive until he's forced to call Pidge for an extraction.
  • Delivery Guy Infiltration: Allura disguises herself as a Galra soldier to sneak aboard one of their ships, and needing Shiro's arm to interface with Galran technology, she sneaks him in a cargo crate.
  • Easy Logistics: The station is a supply station/refinery that receives shipments from all over the Galra Empire, which makes it an important facility.
  • Flat "What": Allura's reaction to Shiro who's flabbergasted by her strength.
  • Good Colors, Evil Colors: The station collects raw quintessence that glows with a golden light and refines it into fuel optimized for Galran technology, which glows purple.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Allura allows herself to be captured by the Galra so that Shiro can escape.
  • I Just Shot Marvin in the Face: Allura doesn't know how to properly hold a rifle, and ends up shooting one of the guards behind her instead of the guard in front of her, because the barrel was pointing backwards.
  • Leeroy Jenkins: Keith opts to pursue a Galra Druid and the cargo of glowing fluid accompanying it, despite the others rightfully being worried he'll blow their cover. While Allura and Shiro are discovered independently of him, when Keith's tries to steal some of the quintessence, the Druid notices him.
  • Life Energy: Quintessence. It even heals Keith's injuries when some is accidentally spilled on him.
  • New Powers as the Plot Demands: Allura reveals that the Alteans are a chameleon-like race as she shape shifts herself to resemble a Galra to infiltrate a space craft. It's also shown for the first time that she is ridiculously strong; she puts hand prints in thick metal doors and throws a grown man several yards.
    • This may have been foreshadowed in the previous episode when she crushed her Father's memory core in a Bear Hug.
  • No One Gets Left Behind: Shiro's reasoning for wanting to stay behind with Allura and help seal the doors.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: The Galra soldier who chats with Allura comes off as this. He mentions getting a superior's name wrong all the time, giving himself a 3 on a 1-to-5 scale of bloodthirstiness (1 being "No thanks, I'm full" and 5 being "Unquenchable") and hoping to get a transfer to another unit, since his current job is boring.
  • Quizzical Tilt: The druid that's treating the quintessence does this when it notices Keith.
  • Sarcasm-Blind: Lance, when he asks Hunk and Pidge if Allura ever talks about him when he isn't around. Hunk's overblown response that she's totally smitten goes over his head. The robotic punch that Pidge "accidentally" delivers via a reprogrammed sentry, on the other hand...
  • Ship Tease: Pidge may have not liked how excited Lance was about Hunk's Fake Allura story.
  • Stop Hitting Yourself: Hunk does this to the sentry Pidge is hacking into for information, much to her annoyance.
  • Teleport Spam: Keith gets into a fight with a Galra Druid, who uses this ability against him.
