Tropes:
- Attempted Rape: Knut attempts to rape Lagertha after she stops him from raping a Saxon woman. She ends up killing him.
- Luckily, My Shield Will Protect Me: During the fight on the beach, the Vikings form a shield wall to protect themselves against the Saxons. This helps the Vikings win despite being outnumbered.
- Stock Scream: There is a Wilhelm scream when one of the Vikings kills a Saxon trying to escape during the fight on the beach.
- Two Scenes, One Dialogue: Athelstan asks Lagertha what Ragnar is doing on the hillside all by himself. The scene cuts away to the Seer telling Earl Haraldson that Ragnar is "searching for [his] death."
