Tropes:
- Continuity Nod: Gary, being struck off after getting confused by the latter half of the name "Johnston's Robin", mentions that "It worked the last time you did that, didn't it?", referring to the previous episode where Tom did this twice, and lost each time.
- Fade to Black: The start of the Running Gag of ending the episode with "We still don't have an outro!"
- Obvious Rule Patch: Since the titles are all hand-written, the results could theoretically be decided by how well Tom recognises the other participants' handwriting. In this episode (and the next one as well) Tom clarifies that they "swapped handwriting", hence he can't use that as a clue to who wrote what articles' name.
- Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness: Gary uses this for his answer for the second round's word, specifically so Tom will take longer to write it.
- You Didn't Ask: Or rather "You forgot". Tom believes that Matt is telling the truth about Ageratina occidentalis mostly on the basis that Matt allegedly wouldn't know that occidentalis would work with "Western snakeroot" before reading the article. This prompts Matt to call him out for forgetting that he has a GCSE in Latin language studies.
- You Do Not Want To Know: Chris starts describing Ageratina occidentalis by claiming "You don't want it, let's put it that way!" Then he elaborates that it's a minor bowel movement disease, which Tom finds believable.
