Pixies are released into Arcadia high, causing dreams, nightmares, and hallucinations in faculty and students alike. Angor Rot is behind it, for a surprising reason.
This episode contains examples of the following tropes:
- Death by Genre Savviness:
- Toby when a pixie gets into him tells Jim to observe him as a test subject as he succumbs to the effects. Jim can't figure out what's wrong and calls Blinky.
- When a pixie gets inside Jim, he quickly reminds himself the hallucination's not real and arms himself as Angor Rot approaches. Angor Rot is still able to disarm him because Jim can't see him in the hallucination or anticipate his blows.
- Enemy Mine: Angor Rot points out that he and Jim have a common enemy in Strickler and can team up against him.
- Freudian Excuse: The Fears that the pixies manifest reveals a lot about the characters.
- Strickler is hounded by a currently-dead Bular, bullying him into removing the Inferna Copula.
- Steve Palchuck hallucinates that everybody else are all replicas of himself, Steve reduced to a babbling, insecure mess shouting that he is the one and only Steve.
- Claire walks in to class, only for Señor Uhl to mention the Killahead Bridge and then to shout at her, blaming her for Enrique getting kidnapped. She then chases a hallucination Enrique all over the school, just missing him every time.
- Eli Pepperjack is waving around a sword, thinking that there are monsters everywhere with no one believing him.
- Mary is covering herself up, thinking that she’s naked in public.
- Miss Janeth finds herself alone on stage in the spotlight, begging for her lines.
- Toby first hallucinates in a Mushroom Samba with his crush - the person in the Mole mascot costume - only, to his horror, that it is actually his Nana, who proceeds to chase him everywhere and throw dodgeballs at him.
- Jim sees a reassembled, active Killahead Bridge and the petrified remains of his mother and friends.
- Angor Rot sees his own shadow crumbling away.
- Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: Toby manages to snap Claire out of her pixie induced nightmare by slapping her, only to get slapped back.
- Impossibly Mundane Explanation: The mundane, human police explain away that the mass hallucinations was caused by a gas leak in one of the science labs.
- Pet the Dog: After getting what he wants, Angor Rot recalls the pixies into the box, freeing everyone in the school.
- Pragmatic Villainy: Angor Rot doesn't really have anything against Jim, and he can squish him like a bug. So he creates a distraction to talk to him while holding Jim at swordpoint, ordering him to get the ring from Strickler. If Jim gets the Inferna Copula, then Angor Rot will remove the spell binding Strickler and Barbara. If Jim doesn't, Angor Rot will kill him.
- Pun-Based Title: Stealth Pun-based, to be exact. It's a reference to the song "Where Is My Mind?" by The Pixies.
- Tap on the Head:
- In order to cure those afflicted by pixies, a simple blow to the head will dislodge them from whatever orifice they went into. This ranged from a slap on the face to hitting your forehead against a wall.
- Angor Rot stuns Jim this way in the gym after leaving him.
- Spanner in the Works: If a girl hadn't walked into the hallucination of Bular, Strickler wouldn't have realized it was a hallucination and would have given up the ring.
- Stating the Simple Solution: At first, Angor Rot tries to make Strickler hallucinate into giving up the ring. When that fails, he resorts to infecting the school with pixies to demand Jim to steal the ring and free him or he'll kill him.
- Tempting Fate: Toby and Jim at the beginning of the episode are relieved that thanks to the Masquerade, nothing weird can attack them in school. Angor Rot then lets pixies loose.
