Well, clearly this isn't the end of their adventures, and taking some personal time for Harmony to grow? That's just ridiculous. It's obvious that what they need is training in how to fight. And Emery Board, the greatest drill sergeant in any nation, is pleased to unretire long enough for offering his services to the restored crowns.

For all his shouting and the fact that he's completely set in his ways, Emery Board is actually a surprisingly insightful stallion — one who understands that the foxhole mentality which allowed Harmony to quickly form no longer exists, because the crisis has ended. This means the still-fragile connections between the Bearers aren't deepening, and that means his best course is to turn himself into their next crisis, giving the group something to bond over.
- Expy: The story is directly dedicated to its inspiration.
- Klingon Promotion: Played for laughs. Emery is rather proud to have never had a class of recruits who didn't dream about killing him.
