Japonés

"Japonés" ("Japanese"), is the 4th episode of season 2 of 31 Minutos. A group of japanese tourist start to invade the studio, so Tulio and Juanín have to get rid of them. Eventually they learn that Mr. Manguera sold the channel to a wealthy japanese businessman named Mr. Yokoshima and the tourist were his crew, they have new plans for the channel and Tulio has will have a hard time trying to adapt to the japanese culture.

"Japonés" contains examples of:

  • The Complainer Is Always Wrong: Tulio is the only one who finds the changes unnecessary, but he's always ignored. Considering the idea of what the japanese think what is a news program, Tulio has very well fundamented reasons.
  • Contrived Coincidence: The japanese note that Tulio is forced to read, actually said "Cactus, Telephone, Cat" in japanese.
  • Mind Screw: It seems the japanese have no idea, how to run a news program and the segments they do, they're weird to say less. You can't blame Tulio for calling them out, if you see those segments, you'd probably end with the same face Tulio had upon seeing them. The segments are:
    • The "Cactus, Telephone, Cat" segment. Bassically a cat and a cactus in a supermarket, while a telephone rings.
    • The segment of the funny camera. Most notabily the intro and outro of said segment.
    • The segment of children with box over their heads, they have a sad soundtrack playing in the background.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Exaggerated. Calcetín Con Rombos Man of all people! He actually caused more damage to Tokyo than the Monster Kaibutsu himself. He at one point yanks a skyscrapper to spank the monster, until the building crumbles, that's not counting the rentless hits he gave to him and throwing him againist the buildings. It's heavily implied he killed the monster, or at least he nearly did it, because the monster keeps appearing in future episodes like "El Maguito Explosivo", "Fiesta En Casa De Juanín", "Estiércol" and "La Mamá".
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Calcetín Con Rombos Man, gives to the Monster Kaibutsu a very brutal one, that probably left him knocked out.
  • Only Sane Man: Tulio is the only one with a brain in this episode, he clearly doesn't understand anything and really wants to do a profesional job.
  • The Quisling: Bodoque and Policarpo side with Mr. Yokoshima. Tulio calls them out on this.
  • Sanity Ball: One of the few episodes where Tulio actually has a brain and wants to make a competent program.
  • Skewed Priorities: Mr. Yokoshima and his crew, don't take the defeat of the Monster Kaibutsu well, because the monster destroying the city was their tradition. This is the reason why they fire Calcetín Con Rombos Man.
  • Translation: "Yes": Tulio is forced to read a note in japanese to keep his job, since he obviously doesn't know japanese, he invents a translation, which manages to be right.
  • Special Edition Title: The Ranking Top has a different presentation than in other episodes, making it look more Japanese-esque.
