1F - Headon's Floor

    Season 1: Ch. 1 (Chapter 1)

Starting off in a dark cave, the main character of Tower of God series, known as Twenty-Fifth Bam, attempts to keep his only friend, Rachel, from going beyond the main gate into the Tower. However, due to his Irregular status as a being who can force the door open on his own power compared to Regulars that are chosen, Bam ends up accidentally opening the gate, which causes him and Rachel to enter the Tower. Now on the Tower's 1st Floor, Bam sees that Rachel has disappeared. He instead meets a rabbit humanoid-looking creature known as 1st Floor Guardian, Headon, who doesn't provide Bam a direct answer as to what happened to Rachel other than the answer will only be found by going up the Tower.

Headon finds himself more interested than usual seeing that Bam is the first of his kind to appear in a long time, which it provides Bam with an extremely tough 1st Floor test to see if he's capable of climbing the Tower as an Irregular. The test being to pop a ball that's protected by a giant White Armored Eel. Despite the danger, Bam charges forward to take on the test, which Headon watches on and officially welcomes Bam to the Tower.

    Season 1: Ch. 2 (Chapter 2)

Two Rankers (people that have already climbed the Tower) are seen making their way down to the 1st Floor after hearing that an Irregular has entered the Tower. These two being the Jahad Princess, Ha Yuri, and her Guide navigator, Evan Edroch. Upon arriving at the 1st Floor, Yuri starts off disinterested due to how weak Bam looks for being an Irregular, which are supposed to be powerful beings known for bringing chaos to the Tower. Upon seeing that the weak boy has the confidence to take Headon's 1st Floor test however, she becomes interested enough to intervene by blocking Bam's path before he enters the test, but he's unable to understand her words.

Seeing that Headon didn't provide Bam a starting Pocket item in order to understand the languages and other information of the Tower, Yuri helps Bam out by providing him a high-grade Pocket (a ball-like item that kind of acts like a cell-phone) in order to communicate with each other, such as introducing themselves. She then calls out Headon for giving Bam a high-level test that people would only start seeing by the 20th Floor, which Headon assures her that such a test is necessary given that Bam's an Irregular. Yuri remains unconvinced due to how weak Bam looks, which Headon agrees to a rule change by allowing Yuri to provide Bam with a weapon. More specifically, the Black March of the 13 Month Series, which is a powerful needle weapon that Bam might not be able to control. Baam accepts the weapon finding his goal to see Rachel again absolutely necessary, and enters the 1st Floor test while wielding the Black March. Evan questions why Yuri is going so far as to help the boy, which she answers that she's just taken a liking to him.

    Season 1: Ch. 3 (Chapter 3)

A flashback is seen of how much Rachel means to Bam. Rachel being the star that brought him out of the darkness, and taught him everything he currently knows. In the present, Yuri and Evan question if there's any way for Bam to win, which Evan being a Guide that sees Tower paths, sees only one way. That Bam needs to have the confidence to fight the powerful Eel to the point of letting the Eel try to eat him, which will allow Bam to stab at the Eel's inner mouth weak spot. Thus providing a big enough distraction for the Eel to let him go, and open a path for Bam to go for the ball during the confusion.

Within Headon's 1st Floor test, Bam stands before the White Armored Eel that's guarding the ball. To Evan's shock, he witnesses Bam allow himself to get eaten by the Eel, and stabs its inner mouth to be let go, just like what he theorized as a Guide. Yuri questions why Evan didn't tell Bam about the path beforehand, which Evan figured that Bam wouldn't have had the courage and determination to go through with it. Yet having witnessed Bam think and pull it off by himself, Evan remains convinced that Bam's out of his mind as the boy seems to fear losing the girl he's searching for more than fearing the Eel that blocks his way. Bam then makes his way over to the ball, and stabs it with Black March, but to everyone's surprise, nothing happens. Yuri questions Headon what's going on, which the Guardian smugly taunts that the ball just so happens to be really well made.

    Season 1: Ch. 4 (Chapter 4)

The Black March remains stuck within the test ball, which Bam remains desperate to pop it by hitting it with the simple axe he's been carrying around. Not liking the trick that Headon pulled, Yuri's about to stop the test herself, but Evan points out that there's still something Bam can do regarding the Black March. That he still has the option to "ignite" it. Evan orders Bam to ignite the Black March, which Yuri remains unconvinced as the Black March is tomboy who just does as she pleases. However, Evan remains convinced as the Guide path he sees is that Bam can pull it off. Holding the Black March, Bam calls upon it to help him, and sure enough, the soul of Black March appears before him. Black March offers Bam many great things, such as riches or power, but instead, all Bam truly wants is to be with Rachel. The answer shocks Black March, but it's enough for her to gain an interest in him, and agrees to help Bam just one time.

After the soul of the Black March takes interest in helping the boy, the weapon ignites while stabbed within the ball, much to Yuri's shock as it never ignites for her, and calls out Black March as sexist. The ball crumbles, and Bam manages to pass the test having successfully destroyed the ball with an ignited Black March. However, something odd happens where the destroyed ball envelops onto Bam, and sends him off elsewhere. Yuri questions what Headon did this time, but the Guardian assures her that he was just sent off to 2nd Floor since he passed the test. Since she needs to get Black March back, Yuri and Evan head off to catch up to Bam by traveling the long way to the 2nd Floor. Headon is then left alone, but he asks an unknown girl in the room that had been watching all this time what she plans to do next.

During their climb up to the 2nd Floor, Yuri remains pissed off by the trick Headon pulled while Evan remains interested in Bam as it leaves Evan wondering if he was once like that at a younger age. That Evan had long since forgotten why he entered the Tower, and wonders if Bam will go through such a change as well. Next, the two of them discuss how Bam must have been sent to Evankhell's Floor of Tests on the 2nd Floor, which will be testing Bam and other Regulars who passed Headon's 1st Floor test to see if they're qualified to climb up the rest of the Tower. As a result, Yuri decides that she will break into the Floor of Tests, but also assures Evan that he hasn't changed.

Long Summary

    Bam Enters the Tower

Bam and Rachel fall through the Tower of God's gate

In a dark and mysterious place outside God's Tower, our main character, Twenty-Fifth Bam, is seen pursuing his one, and only friend, Rachel. Managing to catch up to her, Bam grabs hold of Rachel as the two stumble to the ground. He looks down on her asking where she is going, to which Rachel answers that she aims to climb the tower in order to reach the outside world at the top of the Tower; wishing to see the colors of the sky. Grabbing Bam's face, Rachel admits that she's sick of living in the dark world at the bottom of the Tower, and apologizes to Bam for choosing to leave him behind. She asks Bam to forget about him as a strange light emerges on the ground beneath Rachel, and begins to wrap around her. Bam begs Rachel continuously not go, but the light continues to envelop her. The giant door into the Tower begins to open as Bam yells to Rachel that he will always follow after her until he dies, which Rachel leaves him with a brief smile. The light subsides as both Rachel and Bam end up getting sucked through the door into the Tower of God.

Reaching up, Bam continues to beg for Rachel not to go, but upon waking up, soon realizes that he is now alone within a large room of random carvings of the Tower's 1st Floor. Looking around, Bam sees lights along the walls, and is greeted by a rabbit-like creature who states that it's been awhile since he's had such a visitor. Bam pulls out a cleaver, and prepares to fight, but is told by the rabbit-creature that it doesn't intend to hurt him. The creature goes about explaining that he finds it interesting how Bam is someone who was able to open the gate by himself, and welcomes the boy into the Tower. Bam finally realizes that he's now inside the Tower as the rabbit-creature introduces himself as Headon; the Guardian of the Tower's 1st Floor.

The 1st Floor Guardian, Headon

Headon asks the boy for his name in return, which he answers to be Twenty-Fifth Bam, and states that he was named Bam to honor the day he was born. Headon admits to finding the name difficult to say, and chooses to simply call him Bam. Headon next asks how it was possible for Bam to end up here, which the boy answers that he had followed a girl with blonde hair just now. Bam asks the Guardian if he had seen her, and states that he needs to find her, but Headon doesn't properly answer him. Holding up his staff, Headon explains that all answers will be given to him if he chooses to climb the Tower. That the Tower is such a place to find whatever it is that the person desires. Headon however, provides Bam a warning that the journey he's about to embark on will be hard and painful, which Bam answers that he's willing to take the risk if it means that he will get to see Rachel again. Headon admits to liking Bam's will, and offers the boy a test to see if he's qualified to climb the Tower.

Bam asks what Headon is referring to, which the Guardian answers that at the end of each level, a test is given to see if the person is qualified to proceed to the next floor. Headon explains that each test is given by the administrators and rulers of each floor, and will vary in difficulty depending on the floor. Headon reveals that it is the one who provides the test for the Tower's 1st Floor, and asks Bam to watch as Headon provides Bam his first ever floor test. A massive light behind a caged door appears behind Headon as the Guardian shows off an eel-like creature within it that is protecting an object known as the Ball. Bam is left confused at the sight, which Headon explains that the Ball is a simple test to see if the one taking the test has enough strength to break through the Ball's hard shell. Should Bam do so, and pop the Ball, he will have defeated the monster, and pass the 1st Floor's test. Bam next asks about the creature protecting the Ball, which Headon explains that the creature is a White Armored Eel that is very aggressive at the moment to do having eaten nothing for months.

Bam having the courage to take the 1st Floor test

Looking at Bam, Headon asks the boy if he's afraid at the moment, and questions if Bam can truly pass the test if he's already feeling fear. Headon adds that Bam will not find what he's looking for if he's already feeling fear, which causes Bam to think about Rachel. Headon goes about claiming that the girl being alone had probably already gotten eaten by one of such eels, or probably ended up dying to something worse.

Bam thinks to himself that he doesn't want that, and wishes to be with her again right away, but Headon attempts to discourage the boy by stating that the test is impossible for him as Bam wouldn't be able to pop the ball. Stating that the test is suicidal, Headon reminds Bam that the eel is incredibly fast, and would eat Bam in seconds. The Guardian tells Bam to just move on, and forget about climbing the Tower, but is surprised to find Bam already running passed it; holding his cleaver, and heading off to fight. Watching Bam bypass it, Headon gives off a massive smile, and welcomes the boy into the Tower.

    Yuri Jahad Meets Bam

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc01_04.jpg
Princess Yuri Jahad and her navigator, Evan Edroch

At another location, Princess Ha Yuri Jahad is seen traveling down to Headon's Floor with her navigator, Evan Edroch. Trying to keep up with Yuri, Evan asks why she is in such a rush to hurry down to the First Floor, which Yuri answers that she had gotten word of an Irregular who was able to open the gate into the Tower of God himself and wants to see him. Evan is left surprised at the news, and states that this is game-changing news that a new Irregular has made their way into the Tower. Yuri agrees that it's going to be a big event, and continues to hurry knowing that the test with Headon was already underway. Evan continues to try to keep up, but is left worrying that the actions they're doing could prove dangerous.

The two arrive at the first Floor with Evan hoping that Headon didn't see them. Yuri notices Bam, but is disappointed to find that there's nothing special about him compared to another Irregular, Urek, who turned out to be a complete monster. Turning to Evan, Yuri asks if he could use his navigator skills to see if there was anything about the boy she couldn't see. Looking at Bam, Evan admits that while the boy seems to look quite agile, he's a small, non-hybrid species, and that he doesn't feel any unusual strength coming from the boy that usually comes from being an Irregular. That the boy is just an ordinary human. Yuri is shocked to find that the boy is nothing like what she expected given that she believed all Irregulars to be giant monsters like Urek.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc01_05.jpg
Yuri and Evan arrive at the 1st Floor to see Bam's potential as an Irregular

Sitting down, Yuri is left disappointed that their journey was a waste of time, but Evan is left questioning how the boy who doesn't look qualified for the First Floor test is somehow in the same league as Irregular monsters such as Urek and Phantaminum. Yuri agrees that an ordinary boy passing this test is impossible as Evan notices that the boy has been given the Ball test.

Evan notes how Headon is being unfair to him having to fight a White Armored Eel, which is a monster only seen on floors above the 20th Floor, and wonders if he's trying to force the boy to give up. Yuri states that Headon finds Irregulars to be unpleasant, and trying to make the boy give up isn't that surprising. She continues by stating that the boy has no chance to make it far in the Tower anyway, and will eventually die. She asks Evan if they should give him a hand, which confuses Evan. Yuri answers that its just for a little excitement as Irregulars have always been known to bring chaos to the Tower.

Evan tries to stop her knowing that the King of the Tower will not like hearing about them helping an unwelcomed Irregular, and could result in their deaths. However, Yuri continues to watch. Despite believing that the boy will choose to quit, the two watch as the Irregular runs by Headon; much to Evan's confusion. Seeing the boy run past Headon was enough to excite Yuri as she tells Evan that she will be back soon. Despite Evan calling out to Yuri not to do it, she informs him not to worry, but Evan states to himself that the one he's most worried about is himself.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc01_06.jpg
Yuri greets Bam with a kick

As Bam runs towards the room with the Ball test, he hears someone in the distance telling him to stop, and ends up taking a foot to the face. As Bam gets knocked to the ground, Yuri lands in front of Bam as Headon realizes who it is that has appeared before them. Looking down at Bam, Yuri asks the boy if he has a deathwish. Bam thinks in his mind who the girl is that's trying to speak with him as Yuri questions if Bam can actually understand her. Looking to Headon, Yuri asks the Guardian if it hasn't provided the boy a pocket yet. Headon admits to have forgotten about it, but Yuri believes that he didn't give the boy one on purpose due to Headon being the oldest administrator of the Tower that shouldn't be making such a mistake. Headon continues to deny it as Yuri calls for Evan to join them, but despite not wanting to, he finally gives in, and joins the group on the First Floor. Evan approaches Headon, who informs Yuri's navigator that there was no need for Evan hide since the Guardian already knew he was here. Evan tries to get along with Headon, but is asked right away by Yuri to hand an extra pocket over to the boy as Headon didn't bother to give him one. Looking through his supplies, Evan grabs an A-ranked pocket, and approaches the boy to hand it over to him. Bam questions what the marble-sphere like object was that was being handed to him, and upon touching it, realizes that information had been suddenly placed into his mind.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc01_07.jpg
Bam realizing that he can understand the Tower languages

Looking at Evan and Yuri, the two question once more if the boy could now understand them, which Bam is surprised to find that he can now understand their language. Bam asks the two if it was because of the marble object that he is now able to understand them, which Yuri answers that that's correct. Despite Bam finding it to be impossible, Evan admits to him that it's hardly surprising that suddenly being able to understand another language is believable, and goes about introducing himself to Bam. Evan explains himself to be a Ranker of the Tower with the job of A-rank Navigator who has been traveling with Lady Yuri; another Ranker of the tower. Evan explains the pocket given to Bam to be an essential tool that allows for Bam to translate all languages of people he comes across, and that it comes with an invisible mode that Bam can put away, and bring back, by stating the correct commands to turn the invisiblity on-and-off.

Yuri turns toward Headon, and asks the Guardian if it is forcing Bam out simply because he's an Irregular. Headon defends his actions that he's not trying to kick the boy out, and is carrying out his test in a legitimate manner However, Yuri orders the Guardian to be reasonable as the test being given is better suited for people beyond the 20th Floor. Headon reminds Princess Yuri that the person he is currently dealing with is an Irregular; a being that is likely to have extraordinary powers similar to other Irregulars that have entered the Tower. The Guardian informs her that a difficult test for such a being is appropriate, because they've all turned out to be special in some way. Listening to the conversation, Bam asks why the two keep referring to him as an Irregular, which Yuri answers the term is given to those who weren't chosen to enter the Tower, but were still somehow able to enter the Tower's gate on their own.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc01_08.jpg
Yuri attempting to convince Headon to provide Bam with an easier test

Yuri explains to Bam that Irregulars have always brought chaos and change to the Tower due to their immense strength, and are often feared by everyone else that have resided within the Tower. Yuri next points out to Headon that the boy is different than other Irregulars due to his weak body, and having nothing special about him other than possibly getting handsome in the future. She goes about calling him a baby which causes Bam to give off a painful laugh. Yuri then gives Headon a few pats, and asks Headon if that's enough reason to lower the test level, which causes the Guardian to finally cave. Realizing that Yuri really wants the boy to climb the tower, Headon agrees that he will change the rules slightly.

Looking at Yuri, Headon decides that a good compromise would be to provide Bam with the weapon that is currently in her possession. The Guardian explains that it will be a good advantage for him if he was to be given a weapon that is only used by High Rankers such as the Black March sword that was given to her from the King. Despite Yuri believing that the sword was too powerful to be allowed, Headon reassures her that while it is indeed against the rules, but he will allow it this one time to lend help to Bam. Yuri calls Headon a bastard in her thoughts knowing that Headon realizes just how dangerous using Black March is, but the Guardian informs her that its either this, or he fights with his bare hands. Yuri finally agrees, and calls the boy over to her.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc01_09.jpg
Yuri taking the Black March sword out of her weapon inventory

Yuri asks the boy what his name is, to which he answers to be Twenty-Fifth Bam. Yuri next asks if Bam is choosing to climb the Tower, or give up, but is told instantly that he can't give up as there is someone in the Tower that he needs to find. Yuri teases him wondering if he's trying to date someone, which Bam tries to deny. She then informs him that he might die trying to reach this person, but Bam states that it doesn't matter, and that he needs to go anyway. Yuri accepts his will, and activates her weapon inventory.

Grabbing a black sword out of the inventory, Yuri hands it over to Bam, and informs him that she will be lending the Black March over for awhile. Evan begs her not to perform such an action as it will kill them if the King finds out about it, and while Bam attempts to not accept the sword for his sake, Yuri forces it upon him knowing that he will want to climb the Tower no matter what. Despite still not being fully invested, Bam takes hold of Black March.

Getting the feel of the sword, Yuri explains that Black March is designed as a needle for stabbing and piercing, and that it is the greatest of all needles. She also adds that it's one of the 13-month series that was developed by Ashul Edwaru, that they are technically half-living, and that the series shows their true power when ignited. She leaves off stating that the Black March will be useless if the wielder is weak, but will lend it to him anyway in the hopes that it will help Bam pass the test. Yuri begins to walk away despite Evan continuing to object to giving away the sword, which prompts Bam to offer a thank you to her. He last states that he will promise to return the sword afterwards, and runs towards the caged door to complete his 1st Floor test. Yuri and Evan are now alone as the latter asks why Yuri is choosing to help the boy by giving him the Black March. Evan believes to have come up with an answer, and is about to state that it was love at first sight, but ends up receiving a punch from Yuri. He then asks if Yuri truly believes that Irregulars will change the Tower, but sees that she refuses to answer. Yuri states that she doesn't have time for this, and answers that the boy just suits her tastes.

    Bam's 1st Floor Test

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc01_10.jpg
Bam's memory of Rachel finding him in the darkness

Entering the test area, Bam pulls out Black March, and readies himself for the Ball test. Bam thinks back to the first time he met Rachel, and how she was able to discover him, teach him how to speak, told him stories about the outside world beyond the Tower, and of a human's warmth. He reveals that ever since he was born, he had been trapped in darkness, but meeting Rachel was what gave him a reason to live on, and that just the sight of her in the darkness made the sky that was once dark a beautiful starry night. Back to the present, and standing before the White Armored Eel, Bam thinks back to Yuri telling him that he could die here, but states to himself that he doesn't care as there is something much worse than death.

Outside Bam's test area, Yuri still doesn't believe that there is a possibility of Bam passing the test. She asks Evan if he could see a chance of the boy winning, but all he could answer is that a miracle will be needed due to the difference in strength. Yuri is disappointed that she's thinking the same as him, but Evan thinks to himself that there's one possibility that could happen that would allow for Bam to pass the test.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc01_11.jpg
The White Armored Eel

Evan theorized that the boy will go the logical route of trying to avoid having to fight the eel, and go directly for popping the Ball. However, he will be unable to do so due to the eels incredible speed. Evan deduces that the only way for him to win the test is to fight the eel directly, and that his only chance to land a devastating blow will be when the eel tries to eat him whole. Evan figures that due to wielding the Black March, he can do a considerable amount of damage inside the eel's mouth to, at the very least, knock out the eel, and have a safe shot at popping the Ball. The navigator figures that only someone truly insane enough will attempt to pull off such a stunt, and didn't choose to tell Bam about this possibility before going in, because the boy would be better off just realizing his limits, and be saved by Yuri to fail the test, then continue living outside the Tower. Yuri and Evan continue to watch Bam, and are shocked to find that he has just stood completely still before the eel. Yuri attempts to call out to him ordering him to get moving towards the Ball as Evan tries to figure out what Bam is actually planning to do.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc01_12.jpg
Bam stabs the eel with Black March from the inside

Evan believes Bam to be stuck in fear at first, but realizes moments after that he's trying to get inside the eel. Evan is left stunned wondering if Bam truly is someone insane enough to walk the path he theorized as he watches the boy get eaten by the eel. Yuri tries to go after him worrying about the boy's life, but is grabbed by Evan, who informs her that Bam was able to figure out the answer to pass the test. Yuri is left confused by what Evan is talking about, but is told by Evan to keep watching as the eel is forced to spit Bam out of his mouth.

Bam falls to the ground as Yuri realizes that he was able to use Black March to stab the eel from the inside. Evan informs her that in order for Bam to pass the test, he needs to face the eel with enormous courage, determination and judgement. Evan looks over to Headon to ask if this path was what the Guardian was truly testing with Bam, which it answers to be true. Yuri then asks why Evan didn't inform Bam of this path to begin with, which he states that it usually doesn't work out since no one ever has the will to perform such a stunt if it was their only option. Evan deduces that compared to everyone else, the difference with Bam is that his fear of losing the person he's looking for has put his other fears in check, and isn't thinking about anything else except to bypass the roadblock that's keeping him from said person.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc01_13.jpg
Bam attempting to pop the Ball with the Black March

With the eel knocked out, the two of them watch as Bam approaches the Ball. Stabbing the Ball with Black March, Bam is left confused as to why nothing appears to be happening. Yuri and Evan turn over to Headon, and complain as to why he still hasn't passed the test, and how there exists a Ball that is strong enough to withstand a sword as powerful as Black March. Headon however, just gives off a smile, and states that it just might be really well made. Yuri complains once more believing that Headon's goal was to make sure that Bam couldn't pass the test, and orders the Guardian to stop the test. However, Headon states that he can't, and that the test will only end if Bam chooses to give up.

Bam pulls out his cleaver to try to pop it along with the Black March. He continues to strike at the Ball begging for it to finally pop, but watches as his cleaver shatters into several pieces. Exhausted, Bam takes a moment to rest, but watches as the eel finally regains consciousness. Yuri attempts once more to enter the test room to save Bam, but is held back by Evan again, who asks her if its possible for the boy to do something else related to the Black March. Yuri is left wondering if Evan is referring to what she's thinking of as Evan calls out to Bam to hold out the Black March. He orders Bam to ask the sword for help, and to ignite her power. Despite Bam's confusion, Evan orders him once more to do it before he meets his death.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc01_14.jpg
Yuri and Evan discussing the possibility of Bam igniting the Black March

Yuri complains to Evan that a rookie won't be able to ignite the Black March since she, the owner of the sword, hasn't been able to ignite it herself. Evan answers that the sword will answer Bam because the woman within the Black March has a tomboyish persona that is difficult for Yuri to reason with, but will perhaps listen to a person with Bam's persona. Yuri continues to find this nonsense, but Evan states that as someone who is a navigator, he could tell that Bam is someone who can speak with the one inside Black March. Looking at Bam, Evan wonders if Bam can find the answer here as well since he can see something about Bam that, for some reason, attracts people towards him. Closing his eyes, Bam asks the sword to help him rise up the Tower. He continues to beg the sword, and despite Yuri claiming that it's too much for him, Evan notices that it's working.

Within his mind, Bam opens his eyes, and is greeted by a voice asking if he's truly this desperate to climb the Tower. Bam looks upon the woman with blonde hair, and asks if she is the one known as Black March. The woman asks what it is that drives Bam, which causes him to think back to his past memories with Rachel. Bam answers her stating that what drives him to climb the tower is Rachel, which confuses Black March if what he's referring to is a jewel, a position of power, or even a beautiful woman.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc01_15.jpg
Bam speaking with the true Black March in his mind

Bam answers that Rachel is a friend that he used to spend a lot of time with, and describes her as an average tomboy that cracks jokes, but is the most precious person in his life. He tells Black March that he won't need to climb the Tower anymore if he finds Rachel, which Black March finds to be boring. However, Black March informs him that despite what she thinks of him, she happens to like that type of guy, and that he's her style. In return, Black March states that she will help Bam just this one time.

Having his conscious return to the test room, Bam is still trying to stab the Ball, but is left confused at the sight of the Black March sword beginning to ignite. Yuri and Evan watch in amazement as Yuri complains as to why Black March never ignited for her. She sees the soul of Black March holding Bam, who orders Yuri for girls to keep their hands off of the boy. Yuri gets pissed off claiming it to be sexual discrimination that Black March would choose a guy over her while Evan tries to claim the situation down between the two. The test room brightens up due to the power of the ignited Black March as the Ball finally begins to crack. However, Yuri and Evan note that something feels off as Ball doesn't usually pop that way.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc01_16.jpg
Bam stabs the Ball with the ignited Black March

The Ball goes out of control, and begins to give off bolts of black light. Despite telling the boy to run, Yuri, Evan and Headon watch as the Ball begins to envelop Bam to the point of disappearing along with it. Turning to Headon, Yuri complains to the Guardian what else it did to the Ball, but Headon answers that it did nothing other than grant the boy his wish; ascend to the Tower's 2nd Floor. Still in a state of confusion, Yuri asks what Headon's goal was, which the Guardian answers that he just provides newcomers with a test equivalent to their wish's value. Headon then asks if Yuri should follow him considering that he now has the Black March with him, which irritates the princess. She orders Evan to follow him as the two prepare for their journey up to the 2nd Floor.

Left alone at the gate of the 1st Floor test room, Headon turns to a woman that had been watching Bam's test, and asks if she saw the boy go up to the next floor. It then asks what she will choose to do now.

Still steaming about Headon's antics, Yuri complains to Evan about needing to search for Bam, as well as if she should take the sexist Black March back, as they walk up to the 2nd Floor. She then notices that Evan is in deep thought, and asks what's on his mind. Evan answers that he's been thinking about Bam, and was wondering if he was once like him the day he first entered the Tower, which Yuri teases that the two of them look nothing alike. Evan then questions if Bam will change one day. If something the boy discovers in the Tower will one day change his path than just following after the girl who saved him. Evan admits that unlike Bam, he doesn't remember the original reason he entered the Tower, and was wondering if Bam will eventually forget just like them.

Yuri and Evan beginning their journey to find Bam on the 2nd Floor

Yuri answers Evan with a choke hold as she didn't like being included as someone who also forgot, and asks Evan to not be so serious. Getting back to the task at hand, Yuri asks Evan to figure out where Bam went, which he answers that ascending to the 2nd Floor would mean that he will be sent to High Ranker Evankhell's level; the Floor of Tests. Evan explains that Regulars who pass Headon's 1st Floor test are sent there to take part in a group of qualification tests to see who truly has what it takes to climb the rest of the Tower. Yuri figures that it will be dangerous to try to break into Evankhell's Floor, but is overjoyed at the thought in order to get the boy out, and retrieve Black March. Despite Evan trying to stop her, Yuri orders him to show her the way to the 2nd Floor, but also reassures him of his previous thoughts that he hasn't changed since the moment they met; even their height, which angers Evan. Yuri then continues to walk forward as the two begin their journey to the 2nd Floor.

Headon's Floor Tropes

  • Arc Villain: Could be argued that Headon served as this with Yuri trying to convince the Guardian to provide Bam with a test that wasn't so impossible.
  • Exposition: The purpose of Tower pockets are explained here, which are tiny devices that provide its user a few handy benefits that will be needed in certain situations, such as being able to understand the many languages of the Tower, as well as working as a cellphone to communicate long distance.
  • Foreshadowing: A pair of yellow circles is seen in the darkness watching Bam take his test, and by the end of the arc, Headon makes it pretty clear that a woman had been off on the sideline watching Bam take part, and pass, the 1st Floor test.note
  • Impossible Task: Basically what Headon's Ball popping test for Bam amounts to in order to see if the boy lives up to his reputation as a newly arrived Irregular to the Tower. Yuri even points out the White Armored Eel in the test area with Bam is a creature that is meant to be fought above the 20th Floor.
  • The Protagonist: The story of Tower of God centers on an Irregular named Twenty-Fifth Bam.
