29F - Connection

    Season 2: Ch. 39 (Chapter 118)

Two years have passed since the day that FUG's new Slayer-Candidate, Viole, appeared on the 20th Floor. Currently, Khun's team is seen attempting to complete the exam to pass the 29th Floor known as a March Battle where two opposing teams have two strongholds with cannons to fire at the opposing stronghold. The goal being for a team to stop the opposing team's cannons. However, Khun's team remains stalled within the middle trenches as they can't find the location of the enemy.

Khun's team is put in a predicament after Dan tried to rely on Emily to provide the location of the enemy. However, by coincidence, Emily's answer ended up being correct as an enemy mole Regular pops up from a tunnel at Dan and Ran's location. Ran stalls the enemy Regulars that appeared through the hole, such as defeating a multi-armed swordsman named Jaaskel, as Dan uses the mole's tunnel to race to the enemy stronghold before another enemy mole Regular reaches theirs. Given that Dan relies on speed, he reaches the enemy stronghold before the 2nd mole Regular digs into Team Khun's stronghold, and then presses the stronghold's button that shuts down the enemy cannons; resulting in victory for Khun's team.

After passing the 29th Floor test, Khun speaks privately with Dan. He scolds Dan for using Emily without informing the team about it, and asks that he trust the team to help him more. Dan tries to explain how famous Emily is around the Tower as Khun's only just arrived to the mid-20 Floors, and informs Khun that Emily is a useful device that will answer whatever is asked to it. However, he still goes through with apologizing for his actions, and hands his handheld Emily terminal over to Khun when the latter asks to keep it. Upon leaving their meeting, Dan's greeted by Rachel coming towards him in her transport chair. Rachel reassures Dan that he's a useful member of the team despite speed being his only strength, and asks for Dan to be her legs. Despite Dan's confusion by the statement, Rachel doesn't tell anything further, and heads off.

Holding Dan's Emily terminal, Khun thinks about what he said regarding how it can answer anything. He types Twenty-Fifth Bam into the terminal, and is surprised to see Emily answering that "he's alive."

    Season 2: Ch. 40 (Chapter 119)

Switching over to Team Sweet-and-Sour's 28th Floor test known as the 3rd Outer Regular Test Spot, the goal is to open up a golden statue with a key before the opposing team. With a forest as the battlefield, Miseng is seen leading four of the opposing team's Regulars into Goseng's lighthouse field trap, and are then finished off by Ehwa's flames with the help of Akraptor, Horyang, and Prince. Meanwhile, two enemies chase after Wangnan, who currently has the key to open the statue.

Reaching the golden statue, the two chasing Wangnan turn out to be two of the top E-rank Regulars, a fire-using Wave Controller named Quaetro Blitz (a member of Quant's family), and a Fisherman named Chang Blarode. Despite Quaetro being easy to bypass due to being mentally unstable, which it's easy for him to get distracted, Blarode manages to take the key from Wangnan before he could put the key in the statue. Wangnan attempts to stall for time by pretending to be a pet chicken from Quaetro's past, but it turns out that Quaetro was crazy enough to kill his own pet, and aims to finish off Wangnan with his fire shinsu. However, Wangnan's saved by the arrival of Viole, who blocks the fire attack from reaching the former.

Viole battles it out with Quaetro in close combat. The Slayer-Candidate appears to be on the backfoot at first due to Quaetro being a Wave Controller that can create up to three Bangs to blast shinsu from. However, thanks to his training with Jinsung, Viole reveals that he's currently capable of creating up to five Bangs, which shocks Quaetro. Viole then hits Quaetro with blasts of shinsu from his five Bangs, and easily wins since Quaetro can't counter the two extra Bangs.

    Season 2: Ch. 41 (Chapter 120)

After Quaetro's defeated, the rest of Team Sweet-and-Sour catches up to Wangnan and Viole, which Blarode decides to surrender the test knowing that he's outnumbered. He hands the key he just took back to Wangnan, but challenges Viole to a duel for a one-on-one match with the test on the line. Viole rejects the offer finding the fight to be meaningless, which disappoints Blarode that the rumors about how the Slayer-Candidate only fights those who are weak turned out to be true. Blarode and Quaetro leave with their team as Wangnan places the key into the golden statue for Team Sweet-and-Sour to win the 28th Floor test.

Celebrating after their victory, Wangnan reflects on how he's made it this far as Akraptor points out that they should rest given what they've accomplished in such a short period of time. However, Wangnan informs him that they can't stop climbing until they reach the 30th Floor to take part in the upcoming Workshop Battle that will go down two months from now. Wangnan announces that Sweet-and-Sour will be sure to take part in it so that they can win items that will help them climb the Tower even further.

Back to Khun moments after asking the Emily terminal about Bam, he asks the chatting bot about what she meant that Bam is alive. However, Emily informs him that it doesn't know anything else. Khun figures that there's someone else in the Tower that knew about what made Bam special, but before he could fully put the story together, he gets a call from Apple, who informs Khun that she found the Devil of the Right Arm. She states that a picture on the 28th Floor was uploaded to the Lighthouse network where the devil can be seen walking by in it in the background. Apple asks if Khun is still planning to go after him, which Khun explains his desire to beat the devil to show off against Hatz, who the devil defeated once before. Thus, he answers to Apple that he still does, and that they should go and capture the Devil of the Right Arm.

Meanwhile, Team Sweet-and-Sour is also seen looking at the Devil of the Right Arm picture on Goseng's lighthouse noting how the person in the picture shares a lot of similarities with Horyang, such as the fact that he has a single glowing wing. Horyang takes a look at the photo, and is shocked by what he's seeing. To everyone's surprise, Horyang informs the rest of the team that he knows the person as Beniamino Cassano; the true Devil of the Right Arm.

Long Summary

    Team Khun's 29th Floor Test

Khun's team taking the 29th Floor test

Two years have passed since Viole's existence was made public to the Tower after the FUG Slayer passed the 20th Floor. At this time, Khun's new team has climbed the Tower from the Twenty-Fifth Floor, and are now currently taking part in the 29th Floor test.

The 29th Floor test that Khun's team is currently partaking in is what's known as a March Battle. Basically, each team has a base surrounded by cannons, and teams must advance towards opposing bases to disable the opposing cannons while avoiding the cannonfire along the way. The team who disables the opposing cannons first will pass the 29th Floor test.

From his lighthouse looking over the trenches of the battlefield, Khun remains confused about the current location of their test enemies. He asks Nobic if anything's changed on his end, but is answered that nothing has changed yet. Unable to move due to the cannonfire pounding down near his location, Nobic remains in his trench alongside Gyetang. He informs Khun that they're unable to move due to their lack of information on their enemy, and blames himself for not realizing how dangerous it turned out to be going up against an enemy that can create, and move through, underground tunnels in a March Battle. Nobic warns Khun that their enemy could pop up anywhere on the battlefieid, and their team could wind up losing before anything actually gets done. Overall, they remain confused about the current situation as Nobic asks what Dan's doing.

An enemy mole Regular arrives at the location Emile provided to Dan

Switching over to Dan's location, he and Ran are currently in another of the trenches. However, Dan has fallen on his butt in fear after his failure to use Emile to inform him of the location of the enemy. Enraged by this failure, Ran powers up electric shinsu in his right hand prepared to strike Dan as he desperately tries to remind Ran that they're on the same team. Dan asks that they save this fight amongst themselves until after the test, but Ran points out that Dan is the reason they're struggling since he tried playing with a terminal toy during this test. Dan remains unable to say anything, but it's at this point that the rock ball behind him explodes.

A Regular pops out of a hole in the rock wall behind Dan as he and Ran look upon the odd-looking brown mole person. The Regular talks to himself that he should go to the nailshop afterwards to fix up his nails having to dig everywhere in the test, but surprises himself upon realizing that he dug to the location of their enemy. Dan gives off a grin mentioning how Emile's information turned out to be correct, but Ran replies that this was just a coincidence. The brown digger Regular asks how they managed to find where he would pop out of the ground, which Dan answers once more that it was thanks to Emile, which irritates Ran.

Ran vs. Jaaskel

Cracking his knuckles, Dan states that it's now time for the mole Regular to be defeated. Before Dan could move in however, the scout is greeted by a blue needle that attempts to stab him from the hole that the mole Regular came out of. Dan backs away as a giant four-armed Regular with two spears, and two swords, comes out of the hole. Dan and Ran look up at the giant as the mole Regular begins to laugh that the two didn't take into consideration that he would have someone else with him. Dan turns to Ran, and asks if he wants the mole or the giant, but Ran answers for Dan to just run, and he will take on both of them.

The giant Regular named Jaaskel is ordered by the mole Regular to attack. Jaaskel attempts to swing his swords at Ran, but each of his swings are easily dodged by Ran. The giant taunts Ran that no matter what, he would be able to escape his four-sword attack barrage. However, Ran powers up an electric fist, and claims that this situation is just troublesome. Ran sends an electric blast of shinsu in the direction of Jaaskel, and manages to defeat the giant in one hit.

The mole Regular is left shocked, and confused, seeing Jaaskel lying unconscious on the ground. Despite his teammates defeat, the mole Regular points out to Ran that they're too late anyway, and that their team has already won the test since they have another mole Regular. He explains to Ran that the game will end once the second mole reaches the Khun team's cannons. However, Ran states that he isn't worried about it, which confuses the mole Regular.

Dan uses the mole Regular's tunnel to reach the enemy stronghold

Ran answers that Dan, their team's scout has already ran off into the underground network the moles created, and is now on his way to the cannons of the enemy team. The mole Regular finds it nonsense that Dan could reach their base cannons in time, but Ran answers that he's got plenty of time to make it. Ran explains to the mole Regular that while Dan sucks at everything else, the one thing he's good at is that he's extremely fast.

A moment later, Dan pops out of the mole's tunnels to arrive at the enemy stronghold. After easily bypassing the other teammates that are playing defender, Dan reaches the enemy cannons. The stunned mole Regular falls down in defeat as an announcement from the Test Administrator is made that the mole team's cannons have been seized by the enemy team; resulting in victory for Khun's team to pass the 29th Floor test.

Following the end of the exam, Dan has a meeting with Khun. The latter asks if Dan really thought it was a good idea to trust the information provided by Emile without even informing the light-bearers of the team about it. Dan explains that Emile is someone that answers everything people ask her, and that their team was able to win thanks to the question he asked her.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc27_05.jpg
Khun scolds Dan for using Emile without informing the team about it

However, Khun calls him out that there's still the possibility that she could end up being wrong, and asks who will truly be responsible if such a case was to happen, which leaves Dan unable to answer. Khun explains to Dan that they're not the kind of team that will rely on uncertain information to succeed. He asks for Dan to trust in his teammates more to come to his aid if he makes a mistake, which causes Dan to think this situation over. Dan apologizes for his actions, but Khun asks if he can keep the terminal that Dan used to speak to Emile. Dan agrees to do so as he leaves the meeting with Khun.

Exiting the meeting room, Dan is greeted by Rachel, who asks why he's looking a bit down at the moment. Rachel figures that Khun was a bit angry at Dan or using Emile without telling anyone about it, which Dan admits to be the case. However, Rachel points out that Dan's actions were still what helped their team to win. Dan replies that the team is better off without him considering how powerful everyone else is, but Rachel reassures him that he's still the fastest person of the team, and that she envies him the most given that her legs are crippled. She asks if Dan could be her legs, which catches him by surprise. Dan asks what Rachel meant by that, but Rachel remains silent, and begins to leave. She leaves off telling Dan to get some rest while Dan remains looking at her in confusion.

Emile informs Khun that Bam is alive

Back to the meeting room, Khun looks down at Dan's terminal, and thinks back to what Dan told him about how Emile can answer anything. He decides to write Twenty-Fifth Bam, and sends it to Emile. To his surprise, he sees Emile reply back that Twenty-Fifth Bam is alive.

Switching over to Sweet and Sour, the group has climbed to the 28th Floor. The team is currently taking the the Floor test as a monkey-like Regular is seen chasing after Miseng through a jungle area. The monkey Regular catches up to Miseng, and swipes at her, but is surprised to see Miseng not affected. He looks around, and sees a scout Observer; realizing that he had been tricked by a hologram created by it. Getting irritated, the monkey Regular spots Miseng behind a log, and begins to chase after her once more. Continuing to chase after Miseng, the monkey Regular reaches an open field, but ends up running into three other members of his team, and Miseng no longer being in sight.

    Team Wangnan's 28th Floor Test

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc27_07.jpg
Sweet and Sour taking the 28th Floor test

The monkey Regular asks his teammates what's going on, to which they answer that they were following their enemy to this field as well. The Regulars all continue to look around wondering what's going on as Miseng is seen watching them from above with Akraptor on top of a lighthouse. With the Regulars lured into their trap, Goseng activates her lighthouses to immobilize them within her lighthouse field. Struggling to escape, the four Regulars spot Ehwa nearby as she powers up her shinsu-flames to explode on the group.

Akraptor, Ehwa, Miseng, Horyang and Prince all appear to secure the Regulars they trapped. With the four Regulars now captured and tied up, Akraptor mentions to the rest of Sweet and Sour that amongst the four, they even managed to grab their light-bearer. He adds that there's only two enemies left to deal with, and figures that they're heading to Wangnan's location.

However, Akraptor is left worried due to the two Regulars remaining being the most dangerous. Goseng informs him that Viole is already heading to Wangnan's location, which Akraptor doesn't find surprising, but states that they should still all go just in case something happens. They all start moving moments after.

Quaetro blocks Wangnan's path from reaching the final objective

At the location of a gold statue in the test, Wangnan reaches the location, but is forced to hide in the nearby bushes when a Regular, Quaetro Blitz, appears at the location as well. Quaetro looks around for Wangnan, calling him his chick, as Wangnan is left annoyed that a mentally unstable wave controller, who's considered to be one of the strongest E-ranks that uses fire abilities similar to Ehwa, has decided to chase after him.

Holding a gold key, Wangnan questions if Quaetro perhaps noticed that he was the one carrying it amongst Sweet and Sour. Wangnan looks over at the gold statue, and reminds himself that their team can win the 28th Floor test if he just opens it with the key he's holding. However, the fact that Quaetro is currently in the way poses a big problem.

Quaetro calls out to the forest and bushes all around him stating that he plans to burn the whole area down if Wangnan doesn't come out soon. The moment Quaetro has his back turned to him, Wangnan uses that moment to run for the gold statue. He aims to put the golden key in the keyhole of the statue, but at the last second, has the key swiped away from him by a tiny thread coming from another Regular. Wangnan and Quaetro look in the direction that the thread came from as another Regular, Chang Blarode, appears before them. As Quaetro's teammate, Blarode, who is considered a cruel fisherman amongst the top-5 E-rank Regulars, calls out Quaetro for being too careless.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc27_09_6.jpg
Wangnan attempts to confuse Quaetro by pretending to be the latter's pet chick

An enraged Quaetro realizes that Wangnan was about to win behind his back, and claims that he's going to tear Wangnan to pieces for betraying him despite looking like a pet chick he had when he was younger. Wangnan thinks his current situation over, and realizes that he needs to buy time despite using all his shinsu bombs in previous engagements during the test.

Quaetro moves toward him as Wangnan yells out that he should be thinking about his childhood chick. The claim stalls Quaetro hearing his chick mentioned as Wangnan points out that he's the color yellow similar to the yellow feathers of the chick Quaetro once had in the past. Wangnan puts a toy bird-beak on his mouth, and begins chirping like a bird in an attempt to continue confusing Quaetro. Wangnan attempts to play like the old friend reuniting with Quaetro, and states how surprising it is to see Quaetro not acting like the good kid he once knew him to be.

Quaetro admits that he remembers such a chick, but claims to Wangnan that he burned the chick to eat a meal of chicken, which shocks Wangnan. Powering up his fire shinsu, Quaetro moves in on Wangnan, and states that it's time for the chick to be fried. Wangnan begins to fear for his life as Quaetro fires a couple fire spears at him, but the attack is blocked by the arrival of Viole.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc27_11.jpg
Quaetro realizing that Viole can use up to five Bangs in combat

Wangnan grabs onto Viole's legs happy that the FUG Slayer came to his rescue as Quaetro and Blarode realize who they're up against. Quaetro asks if Viole truly is FUG's new Slayer Candidate, and wonders if he's really all that just fighting weaklings this whole time. Quaetro charges at Viole with his knife ready as the FUG Slayer dodges the knife slash. The fire user then attempts to hit Viole with a nearby Bang firing a beam of fire, which Viole dodges as well. Quaetro charges once more claiming that he will show Viole the strength of the best Regulars within the E-ranks. Viole is forced to continue dodging Quaetro's fire Bangs as the latter finds an opening to cut the FUG Slayer across the chest.

Viole and Quaetro back off from one another as Wangnan finds is surprising that the fire user can use up to three Bangs in a fight. Creating his three fire Bangs once more, Quaetro questions if this is the first time they've met someone that can use this many. However, to Quaetro's stunned silence, he sees Viole creating up to five Bangs.

Quaetro realizes he's screwed as he needs two more Bangs to hold Viole off, and gets overwhelmed by the FUG Slayer's attack. The dust from the explosion settles as Quaetro is now seen lying on the ground unconscious. Wangnan taunts the fire user that this is revenge for the chick, which causes an enraged Quaetro to get up, and claim that Wangnan still hasn't been changed into chicken.

At this point, Akraptor, Horyang, and Prince catch up to them as well as Quaetro looks at them in confusing wondering where the rest of their team went. Akraptor informs him their other four teammates weren't that great working together, and were easy to lead into their trap to be defeated. Quaetro gets up in anger ready to avenge his teammates, but Blarode orders him to stop since it's obvious at this point that they've lost this test.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc27_12.jpg
Blarode left disappointed that Viole only wants to fight against weaklings

Blarode throws the key he took from Wangnan back over to him, and states that he finds it disappointing that they could have won this test had the rest of Sweet and Sour not gathered here. Wangnan finds it odd how Blarode believes that he's someone that could have taken on Viole, which Blarode answers that he could have easily broken the FUG Slayer down to tears begging to continue living. The answer shocks Wangnan, which Blarode next asks for a challenge against Viole to fight one-on-one with the 28th Floor test on the line. Viole rejects the challenge stating that he doesn't wish to take part in such a meaningless fight, which disappoints Blarode believing that this pretty much confirms the rumor that Viole only fights against weaklings.

Blarode turns around, and orders Quaetro to follow since there's no point being here anymore fighting against cowards. Wangnan yells back at them to face them, but Akraptor grabs hold of him, and warns Wangnan not to fall for their provocation. He reminds Akraptor that in they end, they still managed to win the game. Wangnan puts the key into the golden statue, and Sweet and Sour are announced as the winners of the 28th Floor test. Opening up the statue reveals a container of junk food that Sweet and Sour begin to eat to celebrate their victory.

    After the Tests

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc27_13.jpg
Wangnan informs the team that they're rushing to make it to the Workshop Battle

Wangnan is left annoyed about what Blarode said about Viole, which Akraptor reminds him to stop thinking about it, and just enjoy the fact that they can now climb up to the 29th Floor. Wangnan admits that to be the truth, but is stuck thinking about how they will definitely come across Quaetro and Blarode on another Floor higher up the Tower.

Looking up at the sky, Wangnan reflects on his life as someone who use to be so desperate just to pass the 20th Floor, and yet here he is about climb up to the 29th Tower worrying about people that he's most likely going to be seeing at a later time. Akraptor replies back that while their Tower climb has been successful so far, they should think about slowing down at some point to get some rest. Wangnan remains confused by the answer, which Akraptor explains that despite the team being in high morale, they've accomplished so much in this short amount of time that people are bound to be tired at this point. However, Wangnan answers that they need to keep pushing like this until they reach the 30th Floor.

Akraptor questions Wangnan why getting to the 30th Floor as soon as possible is required, which Wangnan answers that it's because the Workshop Battle will be taking place there in two months. Akraptor asks if what Wangnan's referring to is the tournament where E-rank Regulars are going to be fighting for newly developed items, which Wangnan answers to be the case.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc27_14.jpg
Khun thinking over if Emile telling him Bam's alive is a hoax or not

Wangnan proclaims that they will make it to the Workshop Battle in order to obtain items that will help Sweet and Sour climb the Tower even further. Meanwhile, Horyang remains silent nearby having heard what Wangnan wishes to do.

Back to Khun's side, he's still sitting in the meeting room after asking Emile about Twenty-Fifth Bam. Seeing Emile claim that Bam is alive catches his attention as he next asks about the location of him. However, Emile is unable to find him where, which disappoints Khun. He next asks Emile who told her that Bam was alive, but she informs him that she will only tell if Khun will pay her one dollar. The offer gets Khun irritated as he places Dan's terminal on the table.

Khun thinks over the current situation, and wonders if someone is just playing a foolish joke. Looking at Emile's answer on the terminal telling him that Bam's alive, Khun figures that Shibisu's team aren't the kind of people that would pull a stunt like this, and questions if there's someone else that knew about why Bam was such a special being to the Tower. Thinking it over, Khun thinks over the situation, and believes to have possibly come up with an answer, but his thoughts are interrupted when Apple contacts him over his Pocket. Khun asks Apple why she's acting out-of-character calling him when she normally doesn't.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arc27_15.jpg
Apple and Goseng show a picture of Cassano to their respective teams

Apple apologizes for interrupting him, but informs Khun that she has information on the Devil of the Right Arm that he asked her to search for awhile back. Khun replies back that he did since he wanted to show off to Hatz by defeating the Devil of the Right Arm that Hatz was unable to defeat. In return, Apple answers that she found said devil, which surprises Khun. Apple explains that someone posted a picture over the lighthouse network that was taken by accident of the Devil of the Right Arm, and has the exact looks that Khun described to her. She states that he's been spotted on the 28th Floor. Apple continues to look at the photo of Cassano, and asks Khun if she should begin looking into more information on him. Khun states that that's a given since they still have a lot of time before the start of the Workshop Battle. He informs Apple that they will use this chance to catch Cassano

Back to Team Tansooyook's side, Goseng is currently looking at the same picture on her lighthouse, and points out to the group that there's someone in the photo that looks similar to Horyang. Looking at the man in the photo, the group agrees that he's got a glowing wing similar to Horyang's, as well as wearing a giant cape. However, unlike Horyang, he's a lot more handsome. Horyang takes a closer look at the photo, and realizes that the person is Cassano. The team finds it surprising that Horyang knows who he is, which Horyang answers that the person in the picture is a person known as Beniamino Cassano, the true Devil of the Right Arm.
