Recap / Total Drama: "Aftermath II: Revenge of the Telethon"

Go To

The Aftermath studio has to raise $500,000 in order to get fuel for the plane, or else the show will be canceled and they'll be out of a job!

Tropes that appeared in this episode:

  • Brown Bag Mask: Bridgette puts one on to avoid seeing Blaineley's montage of Alejandro shirtless. While it is briefly hinted she is tempted to take it off, Geoff doesn't get angry at her and Bridgette thanks him for being so understanding.
  • Camera Abuse: The camera is attacked by many of the animals during their wrecking of the studio.
  • Crazy-Prepared: Lindsay got over 400 tubes of lip gloss for the season, much of which is sold off in the telethon in order to get as much cash as possible.
  • Escaped Animal Rampage: For the sake of drama, Blaineley unleashes all the animals that DJ has had a bad encounter with and which have been gathered to appear on the Aftermath. The animals proceed to attack everyone in the room, including Blaineley because she didn't think this through. Rats attack Trent and Justin, a panda gnaws on Katie, an alligator lunges at Beth and Eva, a snake captures Blaineley, monkeys take down Geoff and the camera and attack Lindsay, a goat stomps the camera, and a snapping turtle bites down on Bridgette. The damage doubles the money that needs to be raised to save the show.
  • "I Can't Look!" Gesture: Against all instructions, Leshawna dances during the fundraiser. She's terrible at it and Beth covers her eyes with her hands so as not to see it.
  • Impact Silhouette: Izzy seemed to have been blasted through the monitor after she set the bomb off.
  • Mr. Fanservice: Invoked. Apparently, the only contestant more popular than Bridgette with the female demographic is Alejandro, causing Blaineley to show an entire montage of him shirtless with a cute ponytail while lathering his body with lotion.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Blaineley's bright idea to release the very violent animals wrecked the entire studio. As an end result, the goal was doubled to one million dollars.
  • Non Sequitur: Izzy gives one when she returns to her "normal" self.
    Izzy: I heart marshmallow sauce!
  • Prim and Proper Bun: Izzy as Brainzilla.
  • Rule of Cool: The bomb going off in the studio, which helped everybody reach the million dollar milestone necessary for refuelling the jet, and repairing the studio.
  • Sesquipedalian Loquaciousness: Izzy as Brainzilla speaks this way throughout much of her appearance.
  • Shell-Shock Silence: After Izzy hits the bomb with a hammer and causes it to go off, Bridgette temporarily loses her hearing in the process.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The beat and meaning of "Save This Show" is similar to "Quit Playing Games (with My Heart)" by the Backstreet Boys.
    • Duncan dresses up like Elvis Presley.
    • Leshawna, Bridgette, and Harold's dancing in "Sisters" references Beyoncé's "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" and Michael Jackson's "Thriller".
  • Status Quo Is God: Izzy is once again her normal self after her Brainzilla persona was no more after an accident, involving a wheel she was strapped to in order to raise money.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Izzy, no longer being Brainzilla, and blindfolded uses a hammer to set off a bomb in the studio. Luckily for her, the studio was already wrecked, and it allowed them to reach just over $1 million by the very end of the episode.
  • Sucks at Dancing: Leshawna, to the point that a hundred grand is raised in a matter of minutes so she would stop dancing.
  • Third-Person Person: Izzy as Brainzilla refers to herself in this way.
  • Unwilling Suspension: For the only iteration of "Brain Blast" ever, Geoff gathers the peanut gallery, which consists of Justin, Harold, Beth, Eva, Trent, Sadie, and Katie. The seven of them are tied up and hung above a tank filled with hungry sharks. As they're slowly being lowered, Brainzilla is tasked with defusing a bomb blindfolded to save them. Due to a hit to the head, Brainzilla returns to being Izzy, and she hits the bomb with a hammer. It blows up the contraption alongside the rest of the stage, injuring but still freeing the peanut gallery from their predicament.
  • Vertical Kidnapping: After setting all the animals gathered for DJ's interview free, Blaineley gets targeted by a snake. It wraps itself around her neck and pulls her up and out of view.
  • "The Villain Sucks" Song: Leshawna sings "Sisters" in order to raise money for the telethon, with Harold, Geoff and Bridgette as backup dancers/singers. The villain sucks part comes from her vowing Revenge against Alejandro for getting her and many others eliminated.
  • Your Makeup Is Running: When animals attack the Aftermath studio, Lindsay's mascara is seen running while a monkey is punching her head repeatedly.

Izzy has to defuse a bomb shortly after losing her Brainzilla persona. She has the brilliant idea of hitting it with a hammer, with expected results.

How well does it match the trope?
