"When I got up this morning, I did not see myself dying in a plane crash. On a plane that's been missing for sixty years!"

Flight 405 went missing over 60 years ago, but tonight the plane finally lands. Norton Folgate's a Torchwood agent from the 1950s and he swears Flight 405 contains the secret to the end of the world, but can Torchwood trust him?

Andy is watching TV when Norton and Yvonne arrive on his doorstep. Jack and Colchester talk about their now shared trait of coming back from the dead - Colchester is indeed alive. The Colin love-triangle is properly resolved in Colchester's favor. Jack says that he's sorry for whoever Norton and Yvonne bring along with them - but that the two deserve eachother. Norton tells Andy about Flight 405, a flight that has gone missing for many years, since his time. He also mentions the Lens - the flight's valuable cargo. Norton is a hologram projected from the 1950s, but he can use the holograms in another way - he projects Yvonne and Andy as well as himself onboard the plane - but Yvonne and Andy are astonished as to how. While they search for the lens on board the plane, Yvonne and Andy discuss their relationship, and Norton hears his future self on the plane's radio - saying his plan did not work. The cockpit of the plane happens to have a quite literal skeleton crew - everyone on the plane is dead, but their skelestons are phasing in and out of reality. As Norton continues to explore the ship, he encounters God. She monologues and foreshadows extensively - drawing his attention to a body under a tarp. Andy and Yvonne hear their past and possible-future selves on the radio, with a future Yvonne saying that they should kill the engines. The three come to the conclusion that the Lens is either inside the fuselage or not aboard and Yvonne decides to land the plane in Cardiff Bay. Norton finds the Lens and blows a hole in the plane. Norton proves to be "more in-phase with the temporal distortion" and is able to cover the hole with a door. Unable to reach the sea, Yvonne plans to wait until the skeleton pilots are at the correct point of phase to step inside their skeleton forms and control them, which they CAN EVIDENTLY DO, after some trial and error, since they are holograms. Andy manages to do so, crashing at the go-karting circuit before Norton beams them back into their bodies. The plane disappears and Norton claims that he has stabilised and is "in-phase", making him solid. Andy realises that Norton had known where the Lens was all along and always had a plan. The three leave with the Lens and Norton says that the world is still ending. Inside the Nursing Home from the Monthly episode Ghost Mission, Norton meets with his masters - the Committee. He tells them that everything is going according to plan - and Torchwood has the lens. Yvonne enters - revealing that she works for the Committee as well.

Tropes:

  • The Bus Came Back: Norton Folgate, from the Torchwood Monthly Range of audios, appears for the first time in the "official continuation."

  • Back from the Dead: Colchester, properly.

  • The Reveal: Yvonne works for the Committee.

  • Wham Episode: Norton is properly a member of the main cast - and Orr is still missing - Colchester is back from the dead, and, oh yeah, YVONNE IS A MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE AND THE COMMITTEE ARE THE SERIES'S MAIN ANTAGONISTS.

  • Hologram: Andy, Norton and Yvonne all use them. At least at first.

  • Hard Light: What Norton claims to be.
