Original airdate: September 23, 1995

Yukon Con: Pumbaa unearths a massive gold nugget while prospecting in the Yukon, which gets the attention of conman prospector Cusco Quint.

Doubt of Africa: Timon and Pumbaa try to teach a wise-cracking tigress how to hunt so she can feed her family.

Yukon Con contains examples of:

  • Brick Joke: Timon tells Pumbaa not to come begging him for "hot cocoa with the little marshmallows on the top" if he becomes rich. Sure enough, hot cocoa with marshmallows is served out at Pumbaa's party, and Timon snarks that Pumbaa probably expects him to come begging for some.
  • Con Man: Cusco Quint turns out to be this, tricking Timon into distracting Pumbaa while Quint steals the gold nugget.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Pumbaa correctly points out that Timon is lying around while he's doing all the work, which doesn't strike him as being a fifty-fifty splut.
  • Here We Go Again!: Timon and Pumbaa resolve to never again let material wealth come between their friendship. Then they learn that the seemingly worthless bottle cap Timon found earlier is worth millions from an eccentric collector. In short order, they start bickering over who should get the money for it.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Pumbaa sincerely complements Timon's find of a bottle cap, but since he'd just found a gold nugget twice his own size, all this does is anger Timon even further.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Timon, furious at the idea of having to do half the work, draws a dividing line and tells Pumbaa to keep whatever he finds on his side of the line. This almost immediately bites him, as Pumbaa finds a gold nugget twice as big as himself, while all Timon gets is a seemingly-worthless bottle cap.
  • Lonely at the Top: Pumbaa's gold nugget makes him incredibly rich, but he misses Timon too much to enjoy it.
  • Shout-Out: When tricking Timon out of the gold nugget, Cusco Quint gives Timon a password of Bibbity-Bobbity-Boo to recite at their meeting location.
  • This Is My Side: When Pumbaa calls him out for not helping with the digging, Timon snaps and draws a line in the snow between them. He tells Pumbaa that they dig on each side of the line and keep whatever they find.
  • Wealthy Yacht Owner: Timon clearly plans to become one of these once Pumbaa finds gold, as he's seen browsing a catalogue and talking about owning two topsail clippers encrusted with gems.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: At the start of the episode, Pumbaa calls Timon out for lying around looking at a catalogue while he does all the digging, despite Timon having promised they'd split their wealth evenly. This incenses

Doubt of Africa contains examples of:

  • An Aesop: One good turn deserves another. Timon and Pumbaa's efforts in teaching the tigress to hunt earn her friendship, and in turn she saves their lives from a jackal that tries to eat them.
  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Timon ends up on his knees apologising for his words to the tigress when he needs her aid in saving Pumbaa from a jackal. That said, he resorts to using a hand puppet to say the word 'help'.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Played for Laughs. The tigress has figured out how to hunt and saved Timon and Pumbaa from a jackal... but Timon caught her cold.
  • Carnivore Confusion: Discussed. Timon refuses to teach the tigress how to hunt because she's a carnivore and, as he points out, eats animals like him and Pumbaa - which she'd tried to do right at the start of the episode. Pumbaa, however, doesn't hold it against her and acknowledges that she's only trying to feed her family. Although he does break into a nervous sweat when she cracks a joke about "bringing home the bacon".
  • Ironic Echo: A furious Timon rants about how one should only help somebody in return for something and calls the tigress useless. When he comes to her for help, however, she fires those words right back at him.
  • Rimshot: A drum sting plays every time the tigress makes a cheesy joke.
  • Sneeze of Doom: The tigress' sneezes are powerful enough to send herself - and others - flying.
