As Miria's body glows with her healing light, Fury asks what she thinks she is doing because healing magic doesn't work on the dead. Fury thinks about losing her old family, then realizes that Sekai's party has become her new family and begs for Sekai not to die. Continuing to kiss him, Miria declares she will save him even if she has to give up her life. Mirei walks up and asks why Miria is using forbidden magic. Fury asks her to explain, so she says there is one known spell that can revive the dead, but it requires sacrificing the caster's life force. Shocked, Fury tries to tell Miria to stop, but the vampiric salamander recovers and attacks. Bahamut asks if he can blast it again, but Niña says that would risk destroying the palace. Bahamut says he's withdrawing then; he refuses to take the salamander on in close quarters combat because it smells like death. The salamander sets some people on fire, but others douse them with buckets of water.

Mirei says she can't do anything, but Fury points out the salamander is now a vampire, an undead being, so it should be vulnerable to holy magic. Mirei erects a holy barrier and the salamander feels pain when it tries to touch it. Several worshipers start assisting Mirei, and she orders the soldiers to get everyone inside the barrier. Meanwhile, Leafa has stuck all the vampires' heads on posts. The vampire leader declares he will have his revenge and promises to rape her. She says that's not happening. The volcano has stopped erupting so once the smoke clears, the vampires will be exposed to sunlight and finally die. Plus, they are on an island in the middle of the ocean, so even if they won, they would have run out of blood sources quickly. The leader calls her overconfident, then the centipede monster attacks her from behind, but she decapitates it. However, it quickly pulls itself back together and the vampires cheer for it to bite her and make her a slave. Annoyed, Leafa says she should have known it was turned into a vampire too.

The salamander ineffectually blasts the barrier with fire. Niña and Bahamut offer to help against the centipede. Leafa accepts, then wonders what in the world Sekai is doing. Inside Sekai's mind, he is experiencing nothingness, but he does feel something warm and good. He hears his name being called, then abruptly wakes up and is shocked to find Miria naked and kissing him. She says she is glad he is okay, then collapses. Fury examines him and finds no scar on his stomach. Some attendants carry Miria away and note that she is still breathing; being inside the holy barrier likely saved her life. Sekai is shocked as he suddenly remembers being mortally wounded.

Mirei says they cannot maintain the barrier for much longer. The salamander shatters it. Sekai still doesn't have the controller and doesn't know what to do. The salamander tries to blast them, but a wave of holy light sweeps across and disintegrates it. Sekai, Fury, and Mirei note that it came from inside the palace, so they go inside and find Sayuki kneeling in prayer and glowing with holy light. Some bystanders explain that she said the only thing she could do was pray, so she did and then started glowing. Fury says it looks like when Princess Alicia started praying. Sayuki releases another wave of holy light that sweeps across the entire island and disintegrates the vampires and centipede to Leafa's amazement. The people kneel to Sayuki and declare her an angel and their new ruler.
